A Bright And Sunny Gender Non-Conforming Micro-Wedding Weekend

Pretty Poppies Micro Wedding Weekend

Event planners and designers from Vibrant Visions Co. assembled a team of vendors in the DC area and dreamed up a vibrant micro-wedding weekend editorial to address the representation imbalances in the overwhelmingly traditional and cis-het world of wedding inspo.

“Looking at examples of queer and gender non-conforming wedding celebrations, we felt frustrated that things still seemed to fall into the binary,” says Abigail and Kayla from Vibrant Visions Co. “As we moved further from tradition, we got to see gender expression and individuality thrive. This shoot was created to celebrate vibrant queer love in a wedding weekend full of bold color and thoughtful details.”

Photographer Haley Day was part of their team along with a ton of talented vendors who transformed Rust Manor House in Leesburg, Virginia into the ideal setting for this colorful, queer-love-centered shoot!

Key to the design inspiration for it all? Poppies! This dream team used the reds, magentas, oranges, and yellows found in poppies to curate the editorial’s colors. Another key part of the idea was the ever-popular wedding weekend! This editorial was built to showcase an intimate, weekend-long version of tying the knot.

“It was a privilege to be able to show a variety of bodies, identities, and abilities that don’t always get to see themselves in the wedding industry,” Vibrant Visions Co. shared. We CANNOT get enough of this bright, inclusive celebration of gender non-conforming weddings! And all of the beautiful photos Haley took!

“Finding attire for eight models was definitely the toughest challenge of this shoot,” says Vibrant Visions Co. of the brunch set up. “It was important to us to make sure that each model felt 100% comfortable in their outfit, and that it properly showcased their gender expression.”

“We were so blown away by how this shoot came together, and how each and every one of our vendors went above and beyond to bring this vision to life,” says Vibrant Visions Co. “The unabashed vibrant color palette and models who could freely express themselves felt like the heartbeat to this shoot.”

We’re SO glad vendors like Abigail and Kayla and the rest of this editorial’s team are creating beautiful, inclusive wedding content that centers on gender non-conforming couples!!
