Enchantment + Sophistication: An Ethereal, Intimate Wedding in Mystic, CT

After nearly two decades together, high school sweethearts Masha + Orr decided to gather all their friends and fam together to celebrate their commitment to each other.

But the question was: where? The bride + groom were both raised in Miami, FL but are now based in NYC. “Picking a venue turned out to not be so simple,” says the couple, “until we visited the small town of Mystic, Connecticut and fell in love with its beautiful farms, riverside main street, and absolutely charming people.”

As their enchanting + ethereal design vision began to take shape, historic venue Stone Acres Farm proved to be the perfect spot for their celebration. “We loved the idea of a Fall wedding to truly connect with our theme,” the bride + groom say, “and booked our wedding for Friday, October 13th.” Then, together with Coll It Entertaining, Masha + Orr created an intimate day full of meaningful touches, vintage vibes, and an antique mysticism that fit perfectly in Mystic, CT.

And we are so obsessed with the otherworldly feel of these pictures from Claudia Photos!

“From our tarot card themed wedding invitations, florals and seasonal table decor, custom made decor, masquerade table favor masks and fortune teller entertainment,” say Masha + Orr, “we felt like our entire day was a dream.”

We’re very into these tarot-inspired wedding invites from Birdhouse 197. Those metallic details!

This beautiful bridal bouquet is just one example of the moody-yet-delicate floral arrangements that Petals & Plates created of the Big Day.

Masha chose these glorious green velvet Rivka Knot Platform Sandals from Loeffler Randall because green is her groom’s favorite color!

Lemon Water Studios used Masha’s great grandmother’s costume beads to create this super cute hair accessory. Love the way it added some meaningful sparkle to her short hair bridal style!

Also, how lovely are Masha’s pearly wedding nails!

Masha’s bridal crew rocked fab warm tone velvet Fall bridesmaid dresses from Jenny Yoo.

We love the feminine simplicity of Masha’s two-tone embellished floral wedding gown from Flora Vere and the way her bridal cape by Gibson Bespoke completed the look.

Orr personalized his custom Indochino wedding suit with a rose-and-skull lining some wedding date embroidery.

And how sweet is this: This rich purple? Orr picked it because purple is Masha’s favorite color!

The First Look

“After attending many weddings over the course of our relationship,” the couple says, “we knew we wanted something unique to us and that would be a true representation of who we are and what we enjoy.”

Masha’s chic bob was styled by Do Or Dye Salon, and her sophisticated glam makeup look was created by Lorna Made Me Blush Artistry.

The Ceremony

The beautiful embroidered ribbon hanging from Masha’s bouquet was a nod to her family’s Ukrainian heritage.

“It was important for us to incorporate traditions important to us and our families,” say Masha + Orr, “so we included a ketubah signing and a gorgeous Jewish ceremony, under a garden arbor that was transformed into a chuppah.”

The Reception

Rentals from Petals & Plates, Peak Event Services, Fable, and Sperry Tents created the layout and rich autumnal feel of Masha + Orr’s reception spaces.

Take a peek at this colorful New Orleans wedding, this ethereal woodland wedding, and this glam Palm Springs wedding to see a few more brides who rocked a wedding cape down the aisle like Masha did!

How delightfully magical are these enchanted floating candles!

Masha + Orr captured the well wishes of their guests on an antique-inspired telephone with an audio guest book by Life on Record.

“It felt like we were suspended in time with the amount of joy and love we felt from everyone that day and night,” the couple remembers.

We love the one-of-a-kind feel of Masha + Orr’s unique wedding rings from Mociun bride and Adriatic Jewelry.

Our Favorite Memory

A favorite memory that immediately came to mind was the moment we walked into our dinner reception, seeing our family and friends in one place. Sitting amongst the beautiful tables and decor and then everyone put on their masquerade masks with us. It really felt like the evening started right then and there.

“We were obsessed with the idea that we could work with the venue’s parent catering company 85th Day to source all of the vegetables and herbs from the farm and surrounding farms for our menu,” says the couple.

Our Musical Choices

Processional
"House of Woodcock" by Jonny Greenwood | "Love Theme" (From “Cinema Paradiso”) by Ennio Morricone | "You’re So Cool" by Hans Zimmer
Recessional
"Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac
First Dance
"Moon River" by Henry Mancini

“From each moment of the day music was a key element,” Masha + Orr say. “We displayed our personalities by using scores from movies to walk down the aisle, Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller orchestra and the like at cocktail hour, and original songs from our favorite spooky movies and TV shows during reception.”

Then—thanks to Power Posse Productions—it was time to dance! “Once our first and parent dances were complete, the party turned up and we boogied to disco, electronic, and everything in between.”

“Celestial operator” Beth Metal stopped by to provide Masha, Orr, and their guests with tarot readings and spiritual insights.

We are absolutely DAZZLED by Masha’s long sleeved sequin mini reception dress by Nadine Merabi!

This two-tier chocolate drizzle fresh fruit-adorned wedding cake from Zest Fresh Pastry looks beyond delicious.
