This amazing couple is the epitome of FUN. The verdict? A super vibrant Palm Springs wedding at the Ace Hotel with a textural tinsel install — colorful, holographic florals + styling, and incredible fashion-inspired moments. Taking the path of least resistance in a style that feels all their own – Becca + Nils epic wedding weekend drew inspiration from Slim Aarons + an old-world Palm Springs aesthetic married with their east side, Ace-loving, disco ball obsessed, apologetic love of color.
This electric, unconventional wedding was ultra-personal and incredibly authentic to the couple and their unique sense of style. A cross between funky, minimal + fresh, their ceremony was nestled into the commune space and the wedding aisle had color-blocked monochromatic florals complete with holographic textures woven in.
The bride swore up and down that this day couldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the creatives behind Penny Layne who made planning a breeze and the event design everything she dreamed of – we just love hearing that! A Party in the Desert
What better way to start the day than with an epic pajama party with singing and dancing!?!
SUCH a vibe! We asked the bride to tell us how she found this amazing glittery piece!
“Finding my dress was truly a cosmic surprise. I already had a custom jumpsuit and cape designed and ready to be made. Then one day when searching for something completely unrelated on the internet, I saw a photo of a Monique Lhuillier dress which was quite possibly the most me dress to ever exist. It was just calling out to be worn under a disco ball. I immediately texted my sister a link and then seconds later she called me back demanding that I go try it on that week. What’s incredible was it was the only dress I ever tried on and the only dress I ever considered. I put it on and immediately knew. The showroom was empty when we visited and I couldn’t stop dancing around the store barefoot, I never wanted to take it off. The dress paired with the custom cape they were able to make for me to match the rose gold glitter star fabric of the dress created a completely unforgettable look.”

The Stars of the Show
The couple shares that the inspiration for the day really all started with the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs. “It’s one of our favorite places and we knew that this was the perfect spot to throw the party of our dreams (in fact, we even booked our venue before we were engaged!).”
We just LOVE a bride in a cape!
The couple shared that having the location locked in really helped inform all the rest of their creative choices. Their non-negotiables from the start were: cheeseburgers, the biggest disco ball they could find, and creating a dreamy space for the people they love to celebrate their love while dancing the night away!
It looks like this couple is ready to do the damn thing!! 😉

A Reception Full of COLOR!
When guests were invited into the space, they were met with an explosion of color that culminated with a massive tinsel installation above.
Cocktail hour was around the pool – complete with custom cocktails, fun branded elements, and the best passed apps around (not to mention a disco ball by the pool for late-night swimming)!
Guests dined on a custom slider bar with all the fixin’s and finished it off with chocolate chip cookies, key lime pies, and mini strawberry shortcakes – only to wash it down with bottomless chicken fingers and fries. Dream. Come. True!
Hire Layne of Penny Layne! We were so lucky to benefit from her gifts of being a stellar Planner/Designer/Producer extraordinaire. But if she isn’t available, find somebody who gets you both and who you trust fully. We almost feel guilty sometimes about how non-stressful our wedding planning was and we owe all of that ease to Layne and her incredible team. To have somebody in your corner who is not only going to be able to execute a vision that you’ve had in your head for weeks/months/years but also be able to tell you the things that matter and also the things that don’t. It’s invaluable.
Dancing the Night Away
Oh the DRAMA! This bride is giving it all on the dance floor and we LOVE to see it!
The dance floor was never empty and guests ended the party with a poolside party!!
It’s so hard to choose just one! Something we continue to reminisce about was when the wedding wrapped up and all of our friends were heading to our after party, the two of us grabbed one of the last slices of cake left on the table and ate it right there in the middle of our wedding space. House lights fully on, tinsel coming down off the rafters, and all our amazing vendors starting to pack up for the night. It was this wonderful reflective “Damn. We really just did that.” magic moment. I think it was also the first time we stopped dancing for the last 5 hours!
The couple and their guests danced the night away and it truly was a day none of the attendees will forget! A huge congrats to both Becca and Nils on tying the knot! We wish you all the best!
