It’s FRIDAY! And we thought we’d go ahead and end the week on a fashionably fun note. With a colorful handmade reception held at Cleveland’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Shawn + Phil’s wedding packs a punch of modern neon + gold details that we’re seriously loving right now. These two went all out, creating a day that was imaginative + artful and – of course – reflective of their relationship. Modernists + fellow music devotees at heart, they were super excited about their ceremony tunes and had their string quartet perform modern versions of songs they love. How cool is that?! Let’s hear a little bit more about their inspiration + how they made their day their own…
The overall inspiration came from Kate Spade’s aesthetic. Her brand is formal yet fun, which is exactly how we wanted the day to feel! Tuxedos and cocktail dresses with loads of bold colors and textures.
A shout out to Mary Wyar Photography for the lovely images + big congrats to Shawn + Phil on an amazing day!
Shawn was so stylin’ on her big day! Here’s a quick list of all the fun elements that made up her bridal ensemble: the Kathleen Gown by Vera Wang (via Cincinnati Bridal and Formal) a BHLDN veil + garter, earrings + clutch by Kate Spade + fun Badgley Mischka shoes!
The big pop of confetti for our church exit! I also really loved the neon signs made by Marcus Conrad Poston, and the seating chart Aimee Paquin from Modernly Events constructed using the neon lights. I also really loved the "If I do say so myself" guest book alternative she constructed; turned out exactly as I envisioned!
So many good, modern elements made up the reception decor! Our two faves are above + below: the neon marquee + clipboard seating chart + the mini envelope wish board! They each perfectly fit with the museum setting.
Processional: Bridal Party: Sweet Disposition – The Temper Trap; Bride: Flightless Bird – Iron & Wine
Recessional: Marry Me – Bruno Mars
First Dance: All of Me – John Legend
First and foremost, figure out what kind of vibe or style you want for the event. Then, choose your decor and vendors very carefully based on the style you have in mind. This is absolutely key, and will help you eliminate lots of ideas that just wont work for your big day.
