“Inspired by the iconic The Coral Room— a favorite London cocktail bar known for its chic interiors, playful energy, and saturated palette — this editorial at L’Auberge Del Mar brought a fresh, fashion-forward perspective to the garden party wedding aesthetic,” says Sara of Golden Poppy Events, the event design + planning minds behind the editorial. “Designed as a modern interpretation of a British-inspired celebration by the sea, the shoot blended refined elegance with vibrant color, immersive details, and a sense of effortless fun.”

It’s a little bit SoCal 🌴, a little bit London 🇬🇧, and entirely delightful.

“The design centered around a bold yet sophisticated palette of coral, periwinkle, and chartreuse layered with soft garden-inspired prints and romantic florals,” says Sara of the shoot’s eye-popping color world, captured so vividly in these photos from Taryn Baxter.

“Set against the relaxed luxury of the Southern California coast, this editorial reimagines the traditional garden party through a modern lens: vibrant, expressive, and undeniably chic,” Sara says. “It’s an ode to couples who want their wedding day to feel stylish yet playful, curated yet full of life — proving that timeless romance and bold creativity can beautifully coexist.”

“Florals by Native Poppy, a San Diego-based creative floral studio known for its artful and expressive designs, brought the editorial’s vibrant vision to life through layered arrangements filled with movement, texture, and color,” Sara says.

SoCal Candle Rentals handled all things taper, pillar, wick, and wax-related for the shoot. 🕯️

“Delicate petals from Sheldrick Botanicals — a company specializing in sustainably preserved botanicals — were thoughtfully incorporated in the ceremony,” Sara remembers.

The Reception

“Pattern-rich linens, colorful glassware, tailored paper goods, and lush blooms created a tablescape that felt editorial yet inviting — balancing playful maximalism with elevated coastal style,” Sara shares.

Charming, colorful table decor + furniture came from wedding industry icon Folklore Event Rentals.

Perfectly floral-patterned linens were a two-vendor venture from Lola Valentina and Urquid Linen.

“The cocktail experience also played into the British-inspired narrative, with a menu centered around gin-forward signature drinks that felt both timeless and playful,” says Sara of these delectable drinks from Swift & Granite.

“Botanical garnishes, fresh citrus, and vibrant presentation tied the cocktails seamlessly into the overall design story, offering a subtle nod to classic London cocktail culture while complementing the colorful garden party atmosphere.”

Lavish Design supplied the day’s wedding signs — including this precious, periwinkle reception seating chart.

A live painter from Perspective Art Studio was on hand to chronicle guests’ wedding shoot style with one-of-a-kind watercolor renderings.

“Every detail was thoughtfully curated to evoke the feeling of stepping into an intimate, artfully designed gathering,” Sara remembers. “Live music from Platinum Pianist set the tone for the evening while a live painter captured moments of the celebration in real time, adding movement, artistry, and an interactive guest experience to the editorial.”

“The result was a wedding concept that felt deeply personal and experiential — where color, fashion, music, and design came together seamlessly.”

“One of the editorial’s standout moments was the hand-painted cake and cake tower from The Butter End, which served as both dessert and artistic centerpiece,” Sara says.

“Featuring painterly detailing inspired by the shoot’s vibrant palette, the cake was paired with a playful cake tower arrangement that added height, texture, and a touch of whimsical sophistication to the reception design.”

“The display embodied the overall spirit of the editorial — elevated yet expressive, refined yet joyfully unexpected.”
