Relationships require compromise, no matter what. But there are a few relationships that require a little extra compromise. When Chelsea and Aaron met in California, the two had an instant connection. Not long after meeting, Aaron moved back to his home state of North Carolina to further his career as a baseball coach. After some time, Chelsea, a wedding planner, decided to take the plunge and expand her business to North Carolina to be with the love of her life!
The two decided to get married at North Carolina’s Providence Cotton Mill. This spacious, rustic space was the perfect place to bring their vision of a boho-California wedding to fruition. Photographer By Colette’s style brought life and love into each and every picture. Let’s check out this bicoastal-inspired wedding!
North Carolina Meets California
The color palette for the day was largely inspired by the Southwest. Think terracottas, ochre, and the like. These colors were used in every detail, including their beautiful invitations.
Chelsea had her bridal babes by her side from beginning to end! And we just adore these cute babe shirts!
The bride wore a lace dress out of a boho dream! The dress was adorned with beads, lace, and the most romantic sleeves.
Before the first look with her future husband, the bride shared an emotional moment with her father. The sweetest father-daughter moment!
Aaron and his groomsmen were dressed in chic shades of brown.
Let’s go get married!
Saying ‘I Do’
The aisle was elegantly lined with pampas grass arrangements by Color Fields Farm. We love how the open windows give a sneak peek into the reception space!
Sharing a few laughs helped ease the nerves before officially becoming husband and wife!
From a wedding planner turned bride, hire professionals who are damn good at their jobs because it makes your day so much more fun. Focus on making memories and bring on the party!
A Celebration of Love
Who doesn’t love a good wedding lounge?! This chic boho lounge drew inspiration from both California and North Carolina styles. Mid-century modern furniture mixed with velvet touches and modern details made for the best of both worlds.
Mobile bar carts are what dreams are made of! Vita Miele came prepared with delicious cocktails served under the cutest awning.
Like many brides, Chelsea had to make an unexpected pivot just one week before the wedding. The previous signage vendor canceled last minute! Luckily, this wedding expert and college art major was able to jump in and create this amazing signage herself. Go, Chelsea!
As if this wedding wasn’t beautiful enough, things got even BETTER the moment we saw this escort wall! It was titled ‘Head Carolina, Tails California’ as a nod to Jo Dee Messina’s song about a couple traveling the US in an attempt to find their home base. The coins themselves were illustrations of the couple and their dog, Sunny. Chelsea and Aaron represented guests from North Carolina while Sunny represented those from California!
Light beautifully poured into the reception space just moments before guests would enter.
The couple and their wedding party sat together at a family-style table. This is just one of the many emerging wedding trends we’ve seen this year!
The tables were delicately decorated with blush and neutral-toned floral arrangements, crystal glassware, and white runners.
The PARTY! Kevin Miso, who flew in from California, serenaded guests through dinner and brought the mash-up tunes to the dance floor all night long. All of our friends danced the night away and ended it with Aaron spinning disco balls like basketballs. We were even surprised with a Mariachi band to shock the southerners and bring on the Southern California fun!
It’s not a wedding without a killer DJ booth! An array of disco balls and pampas grass were displayed in front of the booth so guests knew it was time to party.
