“This shoot was born from a vision I’ve held for the past four years,” says photographer Becca of Becca Photo, “to create a romantic, editorial wedding design at Utah’s Pink Lake.”
The Great Salt Lake—for which Salt Lake City is named—is the biggest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, covering more than 950 square miles of Utah. In a few key spots along its shore, the salt content of the water creates the perfect environment for halophilic (or “salt-loving”) microorganisms to grow, thrive, and – like magic – give the lake a distinctly pink hue. The uncanny rosy color of the water, the salty shores, the vast Utah sky: this amazing phenomenon transforms the landscape into a place that, as Becca describes it, “feels both fleeting and otherworldly.”
“The location itself is a hidden gem, with surreal pink waters and natural salt crystal shorelines,” says Becca, who conceived, designed, and planned the project, “and I wanted to elevate that beauty with thoughtful, imaginative details.”
So Becca, together with a team of incredible Utah-based vendors, “used the natural landscape as both canvas and inspiration.” And the result has our jaws on the floor. A hopelessly romantic aesthetic against the backdrop of mind-blowing natural beauty—it’s wedding design at its most creative + Mother Nature at her most astounding.
Seems like a pink lake’s a lot like a love story: when the right elements come together under the right circumstances, breathtaking things can happen.

This gorgeous structured bodice lace wedding gown from Renee Atelier brought full-blown bridal romance to the salty landscape.

Becca describes the bride + groom’s style profiles as “balancing timeless elegance with a touch of modern romance.”

This stunning cathedral length lace wedding veil was a star of the show in a major way, billowing in the windy weather of the shoot’s “moody, storm-touched atmosphere.”

Both of these beautiful wedding rings came from Wilson Diamonds. We are loving the boldness-meets-simplicity of their design.

It’s so exciting to see someone realize a long-dreamed-of creative vision like photographer Becca did with this shoot, designing and planning and getting behind the camera. And Ben Winckler was on hand to lend his eye as a second photographer, too.

A Ceremony In The Salty Shallows

OBSESSED with the way High Mountain Floral took an earthy approach to pink. The pinks of the lake are so much more complex than springy pastels or bold magentas, and these arrangements capture that complexity so beautifully!

Maggie’s Hair + Bridal created the shoot’s perfectly blush + rose-forward wedding makeup as well as this romantically wind-whipped wavy bridal hairstyle.

We have a collection of the most stunning lace wedding dresses that you need to look through if you’re loving this romantic bridal aesthetic.

That embroidered lace choker necklace! We love an accessory that can feel both modern + antique all at once. And it’s such a perfect statement piece for this strapless’s dress’s open neckline.

Also, loving those classic-yet-contemporary pearl drop wedding earrings.

Shop this Watters veil from Anthropologie if you’re crushing hard on the intricate lace edging of that incredible veil.

In Love On the Lake

“The vision centered around a white wedding canoe drifting in the salty pink water,” shares Becca of how she conceptualized the shoot.

“This editorial was designed to inspire couples to imagine eloping in extraordinary waterscapes, whether a pink lake, a shallow shoreline, or a quiet river.”

The only thing lovelier than a pair of lacy wedding shoes? Styling them with some sweet + dainty lace socks! Build your own all-lace look with this pair from Anthro or this ivory pair from Nordstrom.

We don’t think we’ll ever get over these unbelievable pics.

A Reception in Rosy Waters

“On the day we were just about to begin, with everything perfectly set up, a huge windstorm rolled in,” Becca remembers. “It created dramatic movement that added energy and atmosphere, but it also blew out most of the candles, leaving just one glowing flame tucked safely behind the table.”

“That single candle became its own kind of magic, symbolizing intimacy, resilience, and the way love finds its light even in unpredictable circumstances.”

Becca utilized furniture, decor, and linens from Diamond Event + Tent to build a reception setup “layered with candles, delicate florals, and fruit, creating a tablescape that looked as though it was floating on the lake.”

One of Becca’s most brilliant ideas? “The design featured a clear acrylic tabletop draped beneath for depth…”

“…designed to let the unique colors of the lake shine through.”

“The three-tier cake from Summit Cake Design was styled with soft blush draping,” Becca recalls, “echoing the tones of the lake.”

“This shoot offers couples fresh ideas for how to reimagine an unconventional location into a deeply romantic, high style celebration,” Becca adds, and we could not agree more. We cannot wait to see the romance-filled weddings in unbelievable locations that this editorial inspires!
