Reimagining the Botanical Wedding: A Lush + Industrial LGBTQ+ Wedding Editorial

Event designer + planner Quintin of Q Jancola based this gorgeously sophisticated + greenery-filled wedding photo shoot around TWO brilliant ideas.

First? “Showcasing a real LGBTQ+ couple in a space often dominated by bridal-focused editorials and traditional wedding inspiration.”

 And the second key idea? “Creating a botanical concept that felt fresh, masculine, and aligned with the venue’s character.” 

Quintin + this talented Madison, WI-based vendor team did an absolutely STUNNING job of embracing both of these elements. And lush + industrial venue The Tinsmith was the perfect setting for Quintin’s vision.

“As both a designer and planner—and as a gay man—representation is deeply personal to me,” Quintin shares. “It’s at the heart of my brand and my approach to every event. I want every couple to feel seen, valued, and celebrated, both during the planning process and on their wedding day. That’s why, when developing this concept and curating the creative team, I made it a priority to include queer vendors and allies. The result? A truly meaningful collaboration that brought the vision to life while inspiring local LGBTQ+ couples.”

“The result is a bold reimagining of modern botanical weddings,” Quintin says, “offering endless inspiration for couples looking for something unique.”

“Setting the tone, Fest Paper + Design created an invitation suite that balanced elegance and playfulness with its monogrammed “Q,” elevated fonts, and layered paper details,” says Quintin of these b+w minimalist wedding invites.

“Fun fact: the couple runs an Instagram page, @blackguys_greenthumbs, where they share plant care tips as proud plant dads,” says Quintin. “A botanical-themed shoot in a greenhouse? Totally their vibe!”

The furniture + decor details from Event Essentials absolutely nailed the sleek-meets-earthy vibe of the entire event.

Quintin’s approach to building this contemporary botanical tablescape? “Details like black-rimmed chargers, two-toned flatware, and smoke-gray plates brought a modern, masculine feel, while moss-patterned napkins from BBJ La Tavola added warmth and texture.”

 “Farm tables were dressed with sage green taper candles, pleated glass votives, and luxurious floral arrangements,” remembers Quintin of the shoot’s organic, elevated decor.

Quintin said it best when he called the shoot’s setup a “lush, botanical oasis.”

“With its modern green, gray, and black color palette, layered paper details, and artful tablescapes, this styled shoot beautifully celebrated queer love while offering fresh inspiration for other couples.”

“Inspired by the venue’s industrial aesthetic, the cake echoed the solarium’s concrete walls with its striking, architectural design,” says Quintin of this contemporary confectionary creation from The Baked Lab.

“In addition to myself and the models, the floral designer (not the owner of the company) and cake designer are also members of the LGBTQ+ community,” recalls Quintin. “While I can’t speak for them personally, I think we’d all agree that this shoot was equally magical and meaningful. It was also a powerful reminder, now more than ever, of why representation matters.”
