This Bohemian 1970s Wedding Featured Beautiful Personal Touches

1970s Boho Glam in Atlanta

The design inspiration for Robert and Maddie’s wedding ranged from boho chic to retro 70’s funk vibes all tied together with warm fall neutrals to match the season! Their wedding took place at Bishop Station in Atlanta Georgia which features a chic industrial space. To make the day more reflective of them, they chose elements like the pre-ceremony music (hello Sailor Moon piano covers and Bridgerton bops!), handwritten vows, readings, and the unity ceremony with intention. Their very close friend officiated the wedding and wrote the whole ceremony himself, which added an even more meaningful personal touch to the ceremony.

Evermore Weddings and Events helped plan each and every detail and truly brought the couple’s vision to life. Let’s have a look at the gorgeous photos by Katee Caroline Photography

Maddy and Robert wanted to do a first look in the courtyard and then together do a first look with their full wedding party! Such a cute moment since the priority of their day was to have fun with their favorite people!!

These ladies shopped their dresses from Revelry and so perfectly compliment the color palette of the day!

Madison shares that finding her wedding dress was pretty simple. She had an idea of what she was interested in (shout out to Pinterest) and found her dream dress at the second shop she visited!

“I very much wanted to go with a Rue de Seine boho column dress with detached sleeve cuffs but found an amazing dupe from Lover’s Society!”

Madison’s hair & makeup by Brushworx was inspired by Kacey Musgraves and Twiggy! OBSESSED!

It’s Raining Champagne!

There we so many cool projects on this day! One of them being the groom, Robert, presented all his groomsmen with a bronze sword that he made himself!!

How gorgeous is this ceremony decor? Pampas grass and dried flowers lined the aisle, along with a bunch of rustic rugs going down the walkway!

How fun is this!! Robert and Madison rolled dice during their ceremony to see who would read their vows first! 🎲

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Oh gosh there were so many! I think one of the bigger highlights was having our officiant (who is also our game master for our Dungeons & Dragons campaigns) ask us to "roll for initiative" to determine who would share their vows first. It was such a fun moment and our guests got a huge kick out of it.

Boho Reception Details

Robert built the arbor and the table number/placement display and it looks absolutely perfect!

The couple wanted lots of southern cuisine elements to highlight the soul food found in Atlanta.

This grapefruit wedding cake was made by a very dear friend of the couple who is a professional baker and it looks too delicious for words!! And remember those swords Robert made earlier? He used one to cut the cake with the Game of Thrones theme song playing in the background! EPIC!!

The Second Bridal Look

“As much as I love my wedding dress, my reception dress is my absolute favorite. I have been following the brand Selkie on Instagram for quite some time and have always wanted to treat myself to one of their dreamy gowns.

I figured my wedding was as good a time as any, and ordered the L’Appartement Marie Gown during a sale. It shipped so quickly, was just as romantic and poofy as I had hoped it would be, and was a straight-up showstopper at my reception! All coming from the girl that originally turned her nose up at two dresses on her wedding day (don’t knock it until you try it, I’ve learned!).”

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Most everyone will tell you that you won't have time to eat -- that is so false! Tell your wedding planner early on in the planning process that having a bite to eat before your reception is a priority and they can make that happen. Our amazing planners coordinated with our catering team to have a meal, cocktail, and hors d'oeuvres for each of us ready to go pre-reception. We were tucked away into the bridal suite at our venue right after photos to find a table all set by candlelight which I think was an amazing touch. Our guests were too busy finishing up cocktail hour and finding their seats in the reception space to miss us! You paid for that catering, and you deserve to eat it <3

A parting piece of advice from the couple: It’s true that your wedding day will go by fast once you walk down the aisle, but it’s also a blast! Not everything will go over perfectly and that’s okay. Just go with the flow, take a deep breath, and remember that everyone is there to celebrate you and your spouse!

Robert and Maddie…cheers to you! We couldn’t be more excited for you both!
