Miely + Chris’s very first date was a romantic evening at the movies, so it only made sense for them to tie the knot in front of the silver screen! Syndicated is a hip and vintage-inspired movie theater/bar in Bushwick, Brooklyn. These two filled the seats with friends and family for a cinematic ceremony and then partied the night away in the theater’s bar and restaurant area!!
“Our inspiration for the day was based on one sole thing: FUN,” say Miely + Chris. They collaborated with NikkiRis Events to create the light-hearted and unique wedding of their dreams. The whole day was a magical, authentic tribute to this beautiful couple with a retro, elegant flair. There was popcorn. There was Prosecco. Romantic movie moments played on the movie theater’s big screen. AND, on top of it all, it was Miely’s birthday!!

The First Look
Miely + Chris got ready at The Modernist Hotel and had their intimate first look in the hotel’s art gallery.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding Chris: "My most memorable moment was our first look. We got to see each other for the first time in our wedding attire, we cried, we laughed and we were in disbelief that the day was finally here. We got to let out of the nerves before the ceremony and making out in the elevator definitely helped!"
Miely: "The most memorable moment of my day was the vows. We chose to do our own vows and as nerve wracking as it seemed when we got started I kind of forgot everyone else was there. It didn't matter at that moment who didn't come, who didn't rsvp or who was late. Only Christian mattered."
“I was very nervous to find my dress,” Miely says. “As a plus size bride the whole thing was daunting. My first experience at a major bridal store was dreadful. There weren’t many options in store and the staff wasn’t accommodating. My second bridal fitting was at Jenny Yoo. The person who helped me was so patient and had me try on different styles that I wouldn’t have thought to try on. I didn’t find my dress that day but when I walked into BHLDN, I knew when I saw the Tadashi Amy Gown was the one. It was old Hollywood, but modern and sexy. The bride had arrived.”

Our Advice To Those Planning Now Our advice to anyone planning their wedding is be authentic to who you are. Find the vibe that feels right to you as a couple. Did people raise their eyebrows when they heard we are getting married at a bar/movie theater? Hell yes. Our menu consisted of sliders, wings and other bar food. But it felt like the right move for us. And guess what, that night we got so many compliments.
