This Wedding Planner Planned Her Own Wedding and Brought Her Wildest Dreams to Life in Vibrant Pink + Orange

A few weeks ago we featured the whimsical fairytale wedding of wedding dress + accessory designer Madison Chamberlain, known for her bold + nontraditional aesthetic. The colorful, playful celebration was planned by Brooke of Sunbursts & Stardust, and get this: in a fabulous, full circle moment, we now get to share with you Brooke’s wedding, featuring a custom sparkly bridal look by none other than Madison Chamberlain!

Bride Brooke describes herself as “a wedding planner specializing in fun, funky, bold, unique weddings.” And – as you’ll see in these amazing photos from Love Me Do – her own wedding is no exception!

“After planning weddings for countless other couples, it was finally my turn to be the bride this past September!” Brooke says. She and her groom Brett gathered their loved ones at The Highlands Mansion + Gardens in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania for the bold pink + orange celebration. “I finally could do exactly what I wanted,” Brooke shares, “without having to factor in the opinions of anyone else.”

To create the day’s design vibe, Brooke leaned into a combination of bright, joyful aesthetics: “I wanted a retro-groovy-PalmSprings meets whimsical-playful-colorful-garden-party vibe.”

“Every single detail was hand-selected and carefully curated,” Brooke says of the wedding’s fringe installation, checkered dance floor, eye-popping wallpaper details, and more!

“The wedding was beyond my wildest dreams and it made me have a deeper appreciation for what myself and my team do for our couples,” Brooke adds. “The very next weekend, I was back on-site coordinating a wedding when I came to the official conclusion – being the bride is way more fun.”

“Peach Wolfe, a bespoke stationery designer based in the UK who I had been a long-time fan of, created our custom save-the-dates and invitation suite,” says Brooke of these darling sherbet -tone invites.

Both the bride + the groom wore custom rings from J. G. Kronenberger.

“I had a completely custom dress and cape made by Madison Chamberlain,” says Brooke of her sparkly blush + silver bridal look. “I felt that what I wanted didn’t really exist in the bridal market, especially in plus-size. After years of curating my bridal mood board, Madison helped make my vision come to life. I wish I could wear my dress and cape every day, that’s how obsessed I am with it.”

“I told my florist, Kristen from Design By Terrain, that I wanted the flowers to be so playful and fun that it felt like they were winking at you,” shares Brooke 😉. “Needless to say from the photos, she took my (very specific) vision and knocked it out of the park.”

Brides By Sette gave Brooke her gorgeous gentle wave wedding hairstyle, and Mar & Co Beauty was behind this earth tone glam bridal makeup.

OBSESSED with these bright, mismatched bridesmaid dresses! 🧡💕

Don’t know if we’ll ever get over the spectacular sparkle of Brooke’s silver wedding cape.

Exploring The Venue Before “I Do”

“My wedding cannot be discussed without mentioning the focal point – the dance floor area between the venue’s two iconic willow trees. A major reason that I selected The Highlands Mansion in Fort Washington, PA was because of the stunning willows that overlooked the garden,” Brooke says.

“As soon as I first toured, I imagined a giant fringe installation between the two trees, to funk-up the romantic space. I enlisted Lucky Dog Studio, my favorite fabrication vendor, to make this fringe vision come to fruition. The dance floor had a custom pink-and-white-checkered wrap from Shout!, which completed the funky vibe.”

Very into Brett’s custom green wedding suit from Indochino!

We’re so charmed by the subtle rosy hue of Brook’s beaded blush pink wedding dress.

“My now-husband and I had been together for 9 years at the time of the wedding and engaged for over 2 years,” Brooke shares, “so this day was a long time coming.”

“I am so grateful that we waited as long as we did, because I feel like that just made the day even more special.”

“All of our guests really knew us together as a couple and were part of the life we have been establishing for almost the past decade.”

How cute + comfy is all of this furniture from Creamery Hill!

“Another highlight of the day were my bridesmaids,” remembers Brooke. “I couldn’t imagine my day without my whole girl tribe there with me, so I had 13 of my closest friends by my side all day.”

“I let them pick their own dresses – the only guidelines were ‘pink, orange, or both – the funkier / more patterns / more textures the better.’ They completely understood the assignment and I am always in awe looking at the photos due to how well all of their looks came together.”

Just when you thought this bridal crew couldn’t get any more chic + playful: paper parasols!!

The Ceremony

“I had my favorite wedding creatives – Kelsey of Creamery Hill – create a bespoke ‘squiggle’ that served as our ceremony arch and sweetheart table backdrop,” Brooke says.

“We each wrote custom, heartfelt vows that included our sense of humor as a couple. My brother officiated the wedding, making the ceremony even more sentimental. I have heard there were lots of tears in the crowd and also lots of belly-laughs. The ceremony was one of the most special moments of my whole life and I will cherish it forever.”

The Reception

Loving the joyful retro-modern charm of this “epic, giant seating chart and welcome moment” featuring all sorts of funky patterned wallpaper that Brooke handpicked herself.

“Both my and my husband’s initials are BW,” Brooke says, “so I had Peach Wolfe create multiple BW logos that we used as a motif throughout the wedding.”

The color + pattern combos on this wedding reception seating chart really are pure serotonin. We can’t help but smile!

“Cocktail hour was highlighted by a few key components – the stunning venue setting, the food, and the aura photographer. Yes, we had Ignite Your Aura there to take aura photographs and give readings, which was set up in the venue’s greenhouse,” Brooke remembers.

“This was a hit with the guests – so much so that they were begging them to stay longer than their contracted time.”

“I know more than anyone that things happen on wedding days that you just cannot control, and our day was no exception,” Brooke shares. “At the start of the all-outdoor reception, it started drizzling and then slowly progressed into a steady rain. My team of women who work for my company were complete rockstars and worked with the rest of the vendors to seamlessly transition the rest of the reception to inside the mansion. We ended up doing the speeches inside the foyer, with the speakers on the grand staircase, and it was more special and unique than anything I could have imagined.”

“The main dancing portion of the night took place in the mansion’s foyer, and it felt like the best house party I could have imagined – all of our closest friends and family breaking it down to our favorite songs, with live musicians and professional lighting in the mix. I had always planned to open the dance floor with my favorite song – Fearless by Taylor Swift.”

“This turned out to be especially kismet, when after pivoting inside due to the rain and making the best of it, myself and my husband were dancing and scream-singing along with all of our best friends, ‘and I don’t know why but with you I’d dance, in a storm in my best dress, fearless.‘”

This story has our Swiftie hearts are bursting!!

BTW, fellow Taylor fans, we’ve got a Lover Era wedding inspo collection, a TSwift themed gift guide, a Taylor Swift nail design roundup, and a bunch of Swiftie tattoo ideas for you to explore!

“My vision was milky pink chargers that I just could not find,” Brooke recalls, “so my tablescape queen (Alex from Citrine) had them custom made for me, along with the pink petal goblets.”

“For linens, I mixed multiple patterns and textures from Nuage Designs and BBJ La Tavola to form my wonderfully mismatched-yet-coordinated wedding dreamland.”

“For food, we wanted to make sure the selection were very unpretentious and crowd-pleasing – we cared more about deliciousness than impressiveness, which Haddon Culinary, our caterer, was more than willing to bring to life,” Brooke says. “Think a mac and cheese and cheesesteak station and passed mini egg and cheese sandwiches.”

LOVING that dreamy string light setup by Lumos Co.!

“Of course,” the bride adds, “I topped off each tablescape with specialty pink flatware.”

“All of this took place in the back garden area of the sprawling estate,” Brooke says of the venue’s stately vibe. “It felt like we were on the grounds of a European castle.”

“One of the best parts of the day was the epic dance party,” Brooke remembers of the evening’s festivities featured in this vibey super 8 videography from Luv’dup Films. “Gemma, the founder of Luv’d Up DJs was in the DJ booth, and we had Tyler Clayton Appel, sax player extraordinaire, playing along to our super-curated playlist. We also had a live drummer, which made the songs come alive.”

Congratulations, Brooke + Brett! We love to see the next-level magic that happens when a planner tackles their own wedding day as a project! GWS wishes you both a life together as colorful + intentional as your big day!
