The brilliant team behind this Santorini wedding editorial shoot set out to discover what a Grecian destination celebration becomes if your wedding aesthetic leaves behind anything old-school and wholeheartedly embraces a bold + modern vibe.

This one dove deep into the brightest looks in contemporary wedding design. A curving magenta statement aisle. Winding, serpentine reception tables. Couture wedding dresses (yes, dresses plural). And some of the most beautiful views of sunset over the Aegean Sea you can imagine. We’re absolutely obsessed.

Konstantinos of planning + event design firm DW Events calls the shoot and its “unconventional color palette” an “artistic + fashion-forward” reimagining of the traditional wedding.

“The design concept was thoughtfully created to contrast beautifully with the iconic Aegean blue and the whitewashed Cycladic architecture of Islet Santorini,” Konstantinos says, “creating a visually arresting scene that elevates the natural surroundings.”

The team centered their approach on a few key principles: “a striking contrast against the Aegean landscape, a modern + statement-making aesthetic, a creative use of color + form, and fashion as a narrative element.” And you’ll see all that + more in these gorgeous photos from Alex Dobrovolsky.

This amazing voluminous bodice wedding gown from Made Bride, with its high contrast black bow accents and sculptural shape, is a perfect introduction to the kind of design innovation this shoot favors.

Marry Me, Magenta

There she is: the jaw-dropping magenta statement aisle by Weddings + Whimsy that we are head-over-heels in love with.

Can we get a standing ovation for Flowers Project and these sculptural, abstract, museum-worthy arrangements? LOVE the monochrome magenta feel with those swirls of rich red roses worked in.

We simply can’t get over the look. Such a cool take on the typical mermaid wedding dress silhouette.

Konstantinos says that the shoots bridal fashion “represent the essence of the editorial.”

“Each piece is carefully curated to complement the overall concept, merging couture fashion with the island’s natural elegance.”

A Serpentine Celebration

We’ve got such a soft spot for couples that go for unique reception table layouts, so of course we cannot get enough of this windy, serpentine setup!

In keeping with the curves + swirls of the day’s design, Julia Popova created this one-of-a-kind sculptural, editorial updo wedding hairstyle.
