Whimsical Cali Ranch Wedding: Cassie + Bryan

bridesmaids in golds

What do you get when you combine a creative (and adorable!) couple, their talented friends + stellar vendor team and a stunning rustic ranch in San Luis Obispo? Well, you’re about it see it, folks! Cassie + Bryan’s dreamy, whimsical ranch wedding really is one for the books – err, maybe we should say Pin board instead. With the styling + design help of Cassie’s sister, they conceptualized a carefree day, ripe with handmade details that completely represented the two of them! Jaime and Chase Photography documented the day to perfection, but before we move on to the pretty snaps, let’s hear a few words about it all from Cassie:

Our goal while planning our wedding was to make everyone love our home just as much as we do. When we came across Tiber Canyon Ranch, we knew it was the perfect match. Chris Anderson, the owner, is the founder of Live Oak Festival and we instantly fell in love with the mini amphitheater on her ranch. Couples in the past have usually held their ceremonies on the stage but we knew that we wanted to restore it’s original purpose by having the band on the stage instead. After searching for an alternative ceremony location on the property, we eventually found a magical spot surrounded by olive and manzanita trees.

Cassie wore the prettiest dress by Watters + we love that her bridesmaids each chose a dress in a romantic neutral hue to complement her look!

…And we’ve gotta give it up to Adornments for the absolutely perfect florals! The palette is a total winner.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

I have two favorite memories from the day. First, I never thought that I would cry walking down the aisle, but as soon as my dad took my hand and started walking towards bryan, the waterworks started. I could barely say my vows as I looked around at all our closest family and friends and of course, the love of my life. Bryan and I wanted our ceremony to feel like home, so we literally dragged our living room rug to the ceremony site to stand on as we said our vows. Whenever I look at it, I can't help but have this happy memory come back to me. My second favorite memory was when our photographers, Jaime and Chase, took us away from the celebration for 30 minutes to take portraits as the sun was setting. Having this time to ourselves really allowed us to soak in what was going on around us and to appreciate all the people who came together to celebrate our love. These pictures are my favorite too!

band

One of my best friends introduced me to a Santa Cruz bluegrass group, The Tyler Mccoy Band and my favorite DIY project for our day was definitely the backdrop for the band. I have always loved working with my hands and growing up, my dad was always helping me build things in the garage of our house. After designing a giant marquee heart, I sent a picture to my dad and he started building. It came out even better than I had imagined and will always be something I cherish as I remember how hard my dad worked to make my wedding memorable.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

My advice for brides planning now would be to include your husband in the planning as much as possible. The more Bryan was involved, the more our day felt like it truly represented us and our personalities. Also, realize things will not necessarily go according to plan. I bought a huge Big Love Ball that I was super excited to have out on the dance floor and it popped upon arrival. We were having too much fun dancing with our friends that we forgot to cut the cake. I ran and bought robes for the bridesmaids the day before the wedding because I forgot and realize now they all looked like 70's floral print disasters. (What good sports for wearing them!) So I tossed those pictures and called it a day. Everything still turned out amazing and it was the PERFECT day. So, as cliche' as it sounds, don't sweat the small stuff.
