Eclectic California Wedding at Big Daddy’s Antiques: Alisha + Spencer

Big Daddys Antiques Wedding

Alisha + Spencer were originally looking for an outdoor venue with either an enchanted forest feel or a rolling hill backdrop. So, the fact that they ended up tying the knot at Big Daddy’s Antiques (also featured in our Top 26 Coolest Places to Get Married) in Culver City, California was a pretty big shift from their original plans! Alisha sums it up by saying, When you feel it, you feel it, ya know? (We know!!) And, with that, their direction changed to include an eclectic mix of things they love – vintage antiques and the natural greenery of the outdoors.

A + S add, Our venue gave us the “this is SO us” feel that we dreamed of. Which proves you should definitely keep an open mind when venue hunting!

Thanks so much to Love Is A Big Deal for the beautiful photos + congrats to Alisha + Spencer on a beautiful day!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Spencer: Just before the ceremony started, there was a few minutes I had alone in a hallway, overlooking the ceremony area. I was super nervous before and I took that time to breath and relax. My anxiousness turned to excitement as I could look out into the crowd and see all our friends and family taking their seats. This was when it all felt real for me.

Alisha: I have two moments that I love to look back on. The first being the moment after we said "I DO," Spencer and I escaped with the photographer to a local lookout spot we frequently visited while dating. We got some rad pictures and it was a quiet moment for us to look over the city we met and fell in love in. My second favorite moment was seeing all our most favorite loved ones on the dance floor gettin' down and really enjoying themselves. I have a mental snapshot of the dance floor that I love to look back on. It felt like that moment could have lasted forever. In fact, our planner literally had to remind us that at some point, we were going to have to leave.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

We've been saying this to all our engaged friends, during the wedding planning process, don't forget to date! We made a point at least once a month to plan dates where we specifically did not mention one thing about the wedding. It helped us focus again on why we were doing this whole shin-dig in the first place, because we really love one another and want to date for the rest of our lives.
