Creative Brooklyn Wedding: Nicole + Alexander

groom in bowtie

I just love Nicole + Alexander’s love story – probably because it is pretty similar to the hubby and I. :) They met at work (yep, that is where Jason and I met also) where Nicole works as an associate creative director and Alexander is a technology diretor (again so similar to Jason and I!). Since they met at work, they came up with an “office romance” theme for their wedding – just love it! A bit about their day from Nicole…

We live in Brooklyn and wanted to invite our guests to experience a slice of our lives. We wanted a simple ceremony performed by a friend, no wedding party, a family style dinner for our almost 70 guests, good music and room for some surprises. Also, capturing the day with amazing photography was of utmost importance. I had seen a friend’s wedding photos a few years ago and remembered that if I ever got married, w. scott chester would be our photographer! Of course it was the best day of our lives and one that went so quickly as everyone advises. Looking back on the images, w. scott chester captured all the little details and the big moments so perfectly.

Nicole + Alexander met at an advertising agency called The Concept Farm, and the barn door that was the backdrop for their alter was a borrowed piece of their actual office decor! In keeping with the office theme, guests used a time clock to punch in and sign their guestbook. The seating was arranged alphabetically in a rolodex and the place cards were personalized business cards that served as great conversation topics.

Nicole shared their Save the Date with me which shares their story – how sweet is that! They designed the invite and then had it letterpressed at The Arm in Williamsburg.

Another great idea I love! Instead of having a rehearsal dinner, they decided to maximize their time with everyone in town and had two additional events. Wine the night before the wedding and a waffle brunch at their home on the Sunday after the wedding. The photos below are from their amazing website they designed for their guests.

From Nicole, I think our parents were a little confused when we’d tell them our plans for the event, but after it was all over, they saw our vision and everyone kept telling us how “us” our wedding was.

And that is exactly how it should be! Congrats to Nicole + Alexander on their lovely wedding weekend. We wish you both all the best!
