Whitney Simmons is Married!! Inside Her Magical, Modern Wedding Day in Mexico

Chances are you’re already in love with fitness personality and content creator Whitney Simmons. Whitney’s down-to-earth, inspiring workout and wellness content reaches millions through platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, and she’s changed the fitness game with her app Alive.

Back in 2020, we took you through all the excitement of her fiancé Stefan’s ridiculously romantic mountaintop proposal. And now—*drum roll*—We are SO EXCITED to take you inside their wedding day!!

Whitney + Stefan’s love story began in the gym (where else!). The goal when wedding planning was to create a wedding that “felt like a dream.” Planners and event designers from Mae&Co Creative went on the hunt for a venue that was at once unique and also indicative of the couple’s personal styles. 

Paradero Hotel in Todos Santos, Mexico was that venue. Breathtaking brutalist architecture rising from the sand. Palm trees and cacti and mountains and sunsets!! The perfect place for an intimate wedding that centered on the couple, their community, and so much super-creative design.

Photographer Jordan Voth (who was behind the camera for the couple’s engagement as well!) captured every exquisite angle of the celebration.

The festivities began with welcome mocktails and s’mores in the flower field beside Paradero. Then came the unforgettable welcome dinner that utilized one of the hotel’s indoor-outdoor spaces. The goal for the weekend was to have each event make the most of a different portion of the hotel or its grounds, creating a collection of completely distinct celebrations.

We love an oval engagement ring and Whitney’s ring is STUNNING!

Whitney’s loose, natural-looking waves are by stylist Nicolette Paige and her neutral-yet-elegant makeup is the work of makeup artist Melissa Hurkman.

We are absolutely head over heels for Whitney’s custom Galia Lahav gown!!! The delicate drama of it all!

Whitney—a proud “psoriasis warrior”—was excited about the open-back detail of the dress: “It was important to me to show my psoriasis as it’s a huge part of my story, so I opted for a deep low back with 5 rows of pearls that hung perfectly aligned across my back.”

How sharp does Stefan look in that classic black tux?! His dried floral boutonniere is the perfect touch for the vibe of the venue.

Their First Look

Ask any couple who chooses to do a first look, and they’ll probably tell you it was one of the highlights of the day. Whitney + Stefan are no exception!

From Whitney: The moment I saw Stefan during our first look, I was at complete ease. Reading my vows privately was the most special part of my day. I made it one sentence in before the tears spilled. We giggled together and I asked if he would want to read them for me because I didn’t know if I could stop the tears long enough to read them. It was a moment in time I’ll never forget. I did manage to make it through my vows but the tears of joy never stopped.

A Ceremony in the Cactus Garden

This epic ceremony set-up compliments Paradero’s rounded facade and the gorgeous Todos Santos scenery so well that you might not believe us if we told you it was created especially for this event…but it’s true.

Noble Floral Co. anchored the minimalist-meets-organic vision of this aisle setup by placing bursting uniform arrangements of dusty rose and white blooms at the base of each arch.

Planner Manda says: “We placed the ceremony in the middle of the ‘cactus garden’ and set up our chairs in a very organic formation so it would feel as though we were almost hidden amongst the landscape.”

The way the sun and shadows play on this incredible arched ceremony backdrop!!

These custom 10-foot half-arches were designed by Mae&Co and built by VVR Pro. The color was chosen by color matching the surrounding buildings and then intentionally going a few shades lighter so the structures would pop.

This is the big moment. Why not go BIG?! The team from Mae&Co Creative placed these towering arches in precisely the position that would create a stunning photo from any angle.

Cue the waterworks!! These two starting their marriage off right with some tissue TLC.

A Poolside Reception

Warehouse Rentals supplied the weekend’s furniture and decor details. How ethereal are these billowing white linens and that sea of twinkly lights?!

Also we spy DJ Fradal setting up for the dance party portion of the evening…

The mauve and white floral palette borrows from the neutrals of the landscape but adds an unmistakable element of romance.

More beautiful paper goods by Carta Plena!! Also, how excellent are the natural-tone wooden handles on the flatware that are a perfect match for the guest seating?!

The reception dinner took place along the edge of Paradero’s half-moon pool, and the arched setup of the banquet table echoed the curve of the pool.

Organic linens, blush florals, stoneware, and wood gave the tablescapes an elegant-but-natural feel.

Started at the gym and now they’re here!!

This white monochrome masterpiece by Cabo Cakes is the epitome of tiered confectionary excellence.

The carefully considered placement of this unbelievable string light moment enabled the light to reflect off of the surface of the pool and create infinite twinkly stars everywhere you looked.

A final thought on the significance of the day from Whitney: “Like everything in my life lead me to this exact moment. My heart could’ve exploded from the amount of gratitude I felt on my wedding day. With every heartbreak I’ve met, with every loss I’ve felt… it all led me to Stefan. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world that Stefan was choosing me. There was magic in the air, I was the happiest I’ve ever been.”
