10 Unique Newlyweds Gifts to Send During a Pandemic

home entertaining ideas

Just like literally everything else these days, buying gifts for your newlywed friends looks different in the middle of a pandemic. You could (and should!) stick to the registry, but there are more things to consider now — especially when you can’t attend the ceremony in person.

Thanks to Brooke Avishay of Orange Blossom Special Events, we’ve got a thoughtful list of 10 unique newlywed gifts to send right now that go beyond the traditional. Think about how you can support a local business and the gift is doubly thoughtful.

And now over to Brooke!

1. Send a gift card to a local restaurant.

Times are tough, especially for the restaurant and service industry. Treat the newlyweds to dinner and drinks that they can use as soon as restaurants are up and running – or for takeout!

2. Create a video they won’t forget.

Gather a group of family or friends to put together a message for the couple! Or, go for the gold and choreograph a silly dance for everyone to learn and record. Any new Tik Tok fans out there?!

3. Send a gift from a local home goods boutique.

Search for a local boutique that offers unique home goods. This is a wonderful way to celebrate a couple just starting a life together.

4. Send a gift card to a local bookstore.

The literary industry has needed extra support for a long time. And, with people spending more time at home, reading could be a revived hobby! If reading isn’t their thing, they can purchase some cookbooks and learn how to cook together.

5. Cooking class gift card.

This is another industry that needs our support right now, and cooking classes (once they reopen) make a great small-group experience.

You can buy online cooking classes at Sur La Table!

6. Airline gift cards.

As soon as traveling is safe, people will be flocking to the airports. The happy couple would love to have a gift card to purchase a flight for a belated honeymoon!

7. Hotel gift cards.

Similarly, hotel gift cards will come in handy once the travel industry is operating safely.

8. Flower delivery service.

OK, this one is more for the ladies (although I see those guys out there who appreciate flowers – my husband is one of them!) but such a wonderful gift! Fresh delivered flowers for the first year of marriage?! And supporting those local florists who’ve been hit hard by the pandemic? Yes, please!

We suggest a subscription from The Bouqs Co.!

9. Custom stationery from a local stationery shop.

Paper goods are not dead, guys! Long live snail mail and handwritten notes. Even if the newly married duo can’t celebrate with all of their loved ones, they’ll be writing thank you cards and notes for years to come. Custom stationery is so special and will be treasured!

10. Custom address stamp from a local vendor.

I received this as a gift when my husband and I purchased our first home and I use it constantly, to this day. If the bride and groom have also recently purchased their first home, this is a perfect gift!

Or shop from an Etsy small business!

BONUS! A membership to a local winery.

I don’t think this needs an explanation!

Winc is our fave!! Here’s why.

We will all celebrate together again! Until then, give the newlyweds something unforgettable, especially if you’re unable to celebrate with them in person!
