What if you set the connotation of the word “trendy” aside and used the trends to your advantage? That’s exactly what this creative team did when experimenting with this editorial! This is a shoot honoring and leaning into the trendy!!
Sonnet Weddings teamed with Kindly Floral to create a truly memorable day knowing with the trendy vision in mind it would be easy to source inspiration, find decor to fit the theme, and is an easily describable aesthetic design for vendors. That sounds like a triple win!!!
Armed with pastel squiggles and checkerboard as the starting point, the dream team called this a gen-z’s idea of what gen-x thought the 60s were like: kind of a groovy Bratz doll vibe. How FUN!! There are a ton of ideas to steal: hello, flower crowns for plates! Tie-dye tablecloth! Painted faux anthuriums! And lots of very DIY-able projects (handmade wiggly cake stand, handmade arch, and more!). The talented Allie Farmer was on hand to capture it all. Let’s take a look!
How fun and funky are these invitations by Sonnet Weddings?!!! If you are looking for help with your wedding invitations, we rounded up the best online invitation shops where you can create the perfect invite to fit your wedding’s vibe!

The Beautiful Model Bride
The award for most creative wedding earrings goes to these right here! How FUN and eye-catching!! Want a pair of your own? We’ve linked the exact ones right here!!
At the last minute, Ellen from Kindly Floral found out that the wholesaler couldn’t get anthuriums in that week. They were very set on having checkerboard anthuriums and had gotten some faux anthuriums in advance to practice painting on and THANK GOODNESS they did because they ended up using those! Anthuriums are so wild looking and with the paint on them they figured it wouldn’t be too noticeable that they were fake.
From the florist: Quick tip, if you try to do these as a DIY and paint a pattern, make sure your pattern repeat doesn’t intersect with the spadix (yeah, we looked up the parts of an anthurium and that’s what the middle thingy is called). It’s really hard to paint around it!
The Trend-Setting Ceremony
How fun is this floral-ridden checkered arch? The perfect backdrop for sharing vows and ‘I Do’s!’
We think every place setting should come with a dainty flower crown!! Thoughts?!
Heck yes! This white and purple checkered cake by Sugar Hippie nailed the trendy vibe!!
