This Vibrant City Hall Elopement Was a Hot Pink Disco Dream

What do you do when you only have two months to plan your dream wedding? According to Eryka and Rachel, you get dressed in your best pink attire, call 50 of your closest loved ones, and have a city hall elopement! 💗

“When we decided to get married, we had only two months to plan and find all the vendors,” the couple told us. “A lot of our decisions were about what we could swing in a short time frame, but we tried to put all of our personality into each decision.”

The result was a vibrant, one-of-a-kind celebration filled with unique personal touches, from their matching fuchsia outfits to their intimate bar reception (hosted at the site of their very first date!). There was rainbow confetti. There were dirty martinis. And, most importantly, there was a whole lotta love.

A Vibrant City Hall Ceremony

The day started like any other: with a quick subway ride. Except this one featured gorgeous flowers from Jessica Sara LeBrón!

In addition to Eryka’s vibrant rainbow bouquet, we’re also loving Rachel’s unique pocket flowers — like an original twist on a boutonniere! They’re the perfect addition to the couple’s playful pink wedding attire.

“Both of our outfits are off the rack!” says the couple. “Rachel is a queen of color, and she immediately found that fuchsia suit once we started looking. Eryka tried on countless white dresses and nothing felt right, until she found the dress that matched the color of Rachel’s suit. We’re not a traditional couple and this wasn’t a traditional wedding, so not wearing white felt right.”

The finishing touch to the couple’s statement looks? Their funky wedding nails!

And with a unique love story to match their unique personal style, we would expect nothing less from this unconventional couple. “It all began with a cookbook club Eryka started right before the pandemic. As was the thing of the time, the meetup moved to Zoom hangs where we’d show one another how to cook family recipes,” they told us.

After the cookbook group slowly disbanded, they stumbled into each other again on OkCupid. They matched and went on their first date at The Black Rabbit in Greenpoint. “They shared margaritas and, eventually, the brave Rachel made her first move and asked to hold Eryka’s hand. You can guess where the night went from there.” 

And the rest is history!

Our Favorite Memory

Since we got married at the court house, we could only have a select group of people inside. All of our close friends and family met us outside and threw confetti as we exited the court house. It was so meaningful to have everyone there and share that moment.

Because nothing sparks joy like a rainbow confetti wedding exit! 🎉

Nothing says “just married” like a wedding ring close-up! Love this couple’s simple gold wedding bands for a chic and timeless look.

For their reception, Eryka and Rachel hosted around 50 of their closest friends at The Black Rabbit, the cozy Greenpoint bar where they had their first date.

“We ordered food from our favorite spots: pizza from L&B Spumoni Gardens and pork buns from Mei Lai Wah in Chinatown,” the couple told us. “Our friend Megan and Rachel’s cousin Kate did such an amazing job decorating the bar and making it beautiful. Afterwards we went to a local dive bar and took over the karaoke mic. It was a blast!”

The night ended with disco, dancing, and dirty martinis — aka, this couple’s dream celebration!
