This indoor conservatory micro wedding is a botanical lover’s dream! Featuring tropical greenery and hothouse blooms in shades of red, orange, yellow, purple, pink, and white, wedding designer Jessica of J Bennett Design showcased unique florals by pairing them with specialty woods, and modern gold and black accents.
The venue’s botanical prints and timeless black and white fireplace provided a minimalist backdrop for asymmetric floral arrangements. Tall palm fronds, orchids, and fresh kumquats made a focal statement when paired with tropical foliage, spring blooms, and ferns. Flower frogs and innovative new Oshun pouches made the designs fully compostable and eco-friendly. Set on either side of a geometric black and white aisle runner, sinuous hand-carved wood stools provided intimate ceremony seating for eight of the couple’s loved ones, and an architectural palm twist and monstera leaf incorporated the venue’s brass light fixture into the overall design.
Lola Grace Photography captured all the necessary details and we can’t wait for you to see… So let’s get started!
The Invitation Suite
An invitation suite by Isidore and Augustine set the tone for this sophisticated celebration with a bold typeface in pale gold and a black envelope with a botanical liner. Stamps from Flourish Fine Writing featuring orchids, birds, and butterflies, along with Artisaire’s monstera leaf wax seals, completed the suite.
Engraver Focus and Light created a keepsake with the couple’s names and their wedding date by reverse-engraving a monstera leaf motif onto thick acrylic, and laying it atop African mahogany in a brass tray.
The Bride and Groom
How beautiful is she?! This bride looked stunning in BHLDN’s Calypso separates, A.B. Ellie pearl flower earrings, and satin Bella Belle heels. Makeup artist Jason V Beauty pulled purple tones from the bride’s bouquet to give her a soft, glamorous, updated bridal look, and the bride wore her natural curls swept up and accented by a gold and pearl headpiece. Gorgeous!!
The bride carried a bouquet beautiful of Charlotte ranunculus, lilac, hellebore, orchid, poppy, sweet pea, anthurium, nerine lily, fern, and calathea leaf.
Dapper in a classic tuxedo from The Black Tux, the groom wore a vintage jeweled lizard pin, black satin diamond bow tie, wood-soled shoes, and a simple white orchid boutonniere.
The Intimate Venue
Less is certainly more for Cornman Farms who are known for their intimate weddings! This cozy venue in Ann Arbor, Michigan was just the spot for this couple and their loved ones.
Saying ‘I Do’
The smiles on their faces say it all!
In the reception room, a long wood table was set for ten with tropical-inspired linens, matte white china, and acacia wood salad plates. Black bentwood chairs provided a contrast to the venue’s neutral interior and paired well with the matte black flatware and smoke gray glasses.
J Bennett Design used a mixture of Ikebana-style arrangements in olive wood and matte black bowls, as well as bell jars, to showcase myriad spring and tropical blooms, leading the eye to each flower in turn, and making the entire tablescape a celebration of color and varietal diversity.
Butterflies galore! Lilac tapers and a scattering of kumquats and fresh papaya rounded out the design, hinting at the delicious meal to come. Here and there, butterflies lighted upon the decor–from the dining table to the shelves, adding a touch of whimsy.
After their intimate ceremony, the couple celebrated with a sparkling wine toast, drinking from fluted coupe glasses matching the seaming on the bride’s organza gown. Small curiosities placed around the venue gave guests something to look forward to finding–a golden snake magnifying glass rests among polished leopardite rocks near the cake while the beautiful swirl of an ammonite fossil can be found amongst the flowers on the reception table.
This petite buttercream cake from Zingerman’s Bakehouse is absolutely breathtaking! With delicate edible wafer paper butterflies on one side, and a hand-painted fern on the other, it perfectly coincided with this couple’s whimsical day.
These two couldn’t look more in love!
A huge congrats to the happy couple! All of us here at GWS wish you guys a lifetime of love and laughter!
