This Elegant Wedding Was a Tribute to Cultural Richness of Mexico

This is centuries of heritage woven elegantly together with contemporary wedding style. This is lace and silver and flickering candles and terra cotta tiles. This is a wedding shoot that centers Mexico – its history, its land, its craftsmanship. This is SANGRE MEXICANA.

“SANGRE MEXICANA was born from a very clear emotion: to showcase the elegance that lives within our culture. The kind of elegance that exists in the details, in the colors, in the history… in the way Mexico understands beauty,” says Benjamín of the Guadalajara-based photographer/videographer team Ángel & Benjamín. “We wanted to create something that could be felt. To show that Mexico is also sophistication, character, and refined aesthetics.”

There are so many details we can’t get over: the rich + wild abundance of the floral design (an ivory calla lily and orchid bouquet, mossy sculptures, tables filled with tomatoes). The delicate lace and shining silver details of the shoot’s style vibe.  The stunning setting.

“Hacienda Labor de Rivera Hotel, a historic estate dating back to the 16th century, became the perfect setting,” Benjamín says of the stone archways and palm tree-filled courtyards of the venue.“It’s a place where every wall holds memory and every space speaks of identity. The aesthetic needed to feel free. Natural. Honest.”

Benjamín writes so poetically about the deeply meaningful and culturally resonant concept for this shoot — we HAVE to share some of it with you:

“Every element became a conversation with our roots.

The table as a symbol of abundance.

The materials as a tribute to the land.

The highlights as reflections of our cultural richness.

The horse and the open landscapes reminding us of our origins: the countryside, the work, the deep connection to our land.

This was not just an editorial.

It was an interpretation of who we are.

Of our roots.

Of our identity.

Of the way we transform our culture into something timeless.

Mexico not as a place… but as an essence.”

Lidia Sandoval Botello beautifully styled this bride’s long hair, and Ana Pau Morfin created this glossy neutral lipped wedding makeup look.

“For the groom’s first look, we collaborated with Amor & Rosas, a Mexico city based brand,” Benjamín says. “The moment we discovered their work, we immediately knew they were perfect for this story. We shared the concept with them, and they instantly said yes.”

“We were deeply inspired by what their brand represents — handcrafted embroidery, garments created by Mexican artisans, and pieces that feel like luxury with soul.”

The Candlelit Ceremony

“Fashion played a very important role in telling the story,” Benjamín shares.

“Both bridal gowns were selected from Casa Novia, a bridal house in Guadalajara that truly cares about helping every bride find her own identity and style — from timeless and classic brides to women with a much more defined and artistic presence.”

“The bride’s long, natural hair was also an intentional part of the styling, helping everything feel organic, untamed, and handmade — because that spirit is deeply connected to what Mexico feels like to us.”

“We intentionally chose dresses with texture, movement, and softness. We wanted the gowns to feel free, effortless, and deeply feminine.”

We’ve got three bridal style guides you need to see if you’re as enchanted by this delicate, feminine bridal silhouette as we are: our fave high neck wedding dresses, the best long sleeve wedding dresses, and the loveliest lace wedding dresses.

“The entire styling direction was creatively directed by us, Ángel & Benjamín,” Benjamín says of how the photo/video creatives expanded their vision into the shoot’s style world.

“From the very beginning, we had a clear vision of wanting everything to feel free, powerful, refined, and slightly mystical.”

The Courtyard Reception

Graciela Oliveros was behind the shoot’s visionary floral creations. Overflowing, textured, abundant genius.

“The design was inspired by the beauty of Mexican heritage interpreted through a refined and contemporary lens,” Benjamín says.

“We incorporated earthy elements, organic textures, horses, artisanal details, and an abundant tablescape as symbols of tradition, land, celebration, and connection.”

We’ve been so enamored with fruit + veg-filled tablescapes like this one that we couldn’t help but deep-dive into the trend: The Case for Putting Fruit on Your Wedding Tables

“We wanted every detail to feel deeply intentional — from the textures and materials to the fashion styling and overall atmosphere of the day,” Benjamín says of the way the team approached all aspects of the shoot.

There’s another wedding we love — This Dia de los Muertos Wedding in Mexico Was a Chic + Colorful “Fiesta of Love” — that centered its whole vibe around elevating and amplifying Mexico’s culture + traditions.

“The entire second look was built using pieces from Ángel’s personal wardrobe,” Benjamín says of this pin-adorned groom fit.

“Ángel, our videographer, has always had a very elevated and unique sense of style, so we started constructing a new look around loose tailoring, elegant silhouettes, and unexpected details.”

“Every pin placed on the jacket and hat was individually sourced and hand-sewn by Ángel himself.”

“It became a deeply creative process for us — one that felt natural and intuitive because we had such a strong vision of what we wanted SANGRE MEXICANA to feel like from the very beginning,” Benjamín shares.

“This editorial was created as a tribute to the elegance, soul, and cultural richness of Mexico.”

Benjamín’s right: this wasn’t just a wedding editorial. It was a creative, reverent love letter to the art and heritage of Mexico. Congratulations to Ángel & Benjamín and all the wedding creatives involved!
