The Bride’s Floral Dress Was the Stand-Out Detail in this Simple + Organic Wedding

Minnesota Floral Wedding

We LIVE for amazing wedding dresses around here and nothing seems to stop us in our tracks more than a romantic gown covered in embroidered flowers. It’s a trend that tends to skew more editorial (have you *seen* this blue tulle floral dress?!), so we were thrilled to see today’s bride rock a frock that’s a little less white and a little more WOW. Kierston and Nicholas were married at the beautiful Hutton House near Minneapolis. As they began planning, many trends and traditions went out the window:

Nicholas and I spent a lot of time intentionally planning out the details of the day. We wanted to make sure the day reflected us—our style, our beliefs, and our love. We definitely followed our gut on everything and didn’t stress too much about trends or ALL the traditions. Choosing vendors who really cared about making the details reflect us was key. Our florist, Ashley Fox Designs, drew inspiration from my dress and other details I’d planned then used her artistic talent from there. Our photographer, Katch Silva, was so great at encouraging us to be ourselves in all our photos and capturing details that mattered to us.

K + N called on Rosetree Events for their planning + design expertise, the details of which Katch Silva captured beautifully!

The Floral Wedding Dress

Needle and Thread Wedding Dress

Kiersten’s Needle and Thread dress was hands down the star of the day! This absolute stunner was a stand out among the natural + simple elements—just as it should be for the glowing bride! (By the way, most of Needle and Thread‘s dresses are less than $500 if you’re looking for a similar look!)

How cute are Kiersten’s shoes from Intentionally Blank?

They are the CUTEST. Kiersten’s braids are SO rad and Nicholas’ navy suit + floral tie make for the best combo.

We are utterly inspired by the organic floral designs by Ashley Fox Designs! The beautiful mantel installation harkens to Kiersten’s dress design and brings it all together so perfectly!

The Colorful Wedding Party

The girls wore an array of colors paired with white heels and mismatched bouquets for the most darling look!

We’re suckers for floral ties! Our collection with the Tie Bar features two floral ties that happen to pair just as well!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

For me, it was walking down the aisle, which I really didn’t expect to be my favorite part. It was so stunning to see all my friends and family standing in front of me and supporting us at the very beginning of our marriage. Plus walking toward Nicholas, arm in arm with my dad and holding my mom’s hand — nothing could beat that for me!

The Relaxed Reception

Minnesota Floral Wedding

For our reception, we didn’t have much of an itinerary, which people later told me they really enjoyed as a guest. We did toasts and a prayer and then the rest of the night was just a big party. We had a jazz band play all night and did food stations instead of a sit-down dinner so people could eat when they wanted and everyone could be free to talk or dance and it gave us a chance to talk to so many of our guests.

THIS. We officially dub pretzel bars the new donut wall!!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

From my experience, these things were pretty key:

Do what it takes to make sure you and your family and friends are comfortable. Clothes, schedule, etc. It puts everyone at ease and makes room to enjoy the day.

Find small ways to make elements of your wedding meaningful to you. One way we implemented this was having my brother-in-law officiate the wedding and write a message that was personal to us.

Don’t worry about everything going perfectly. Bad weather and your flower girl not wanting to walk down the aisle can be a bummer, but in the end, it’s not a Broadway show, it’s a day to celebrate the two of you, which is far beyond the details out of your control.

They are the absolute sweetest and we couldn’t be happier for the newlyweds! Congrats from all of us at GWS!
