That’s how Queyang Event describes Rae + Roger, the newlyweds whose earthy-yet-elevated wedding on a cliff above the ocean in Bali has absolutely taken our breath away.
“They dreamed of flowers not arranged, but awakened,” the wedding’s designer from Queyang Event says of how the couple approached creating this uniquely organic wedding aesthetic, “as if the earth itself had whispered them into being upon the cliffs of Villa Pemutih in Bali.”
There is so much to adore about Rae + Roger’s seaside celebration – you’ll see in these stunning photos from Chesoen Tan. But what has us so transfixed is the way the design used sunflowers 🌻. It was all fresh-picked petals, stalks, and leaves in terra cotta pots. A gloriously abundant summer garden. A Van Gogh dreamscape.
“Layer upon layer of green — deep, soft, luminous — unfolded into the warm embrace of earth tones,” the wedding designer remembers. “Across the cliffside villa, beneath the molten gold of an Indian Ocean sunset, a living painting took shape. A memory stitched not from perfection, but from presence. A memory that belongs only to Rae + Roger.”
These charmingly simple + rustic rough edge watercolor wedding invites did so much to establish the aesthetic.
Here Comes the Sun(flower) 🌻
“We let nature take the pen,” says the wedding’s designer. “The story became simple: Love, flowing and growing in the wild — sun-warmed, unbound, tender and true.”
“And what blooms wilder than the sunflower?”
“We chose its many faces — some tall, some small, each burning with quiet sunlight,” the designer says of the day’s sunflower-filled creations by Dāda Island. “Clustered like little groves, they dance between the natural and the playful — wild at heart, yet graceful in form.”
You know, weddings filled with sunflowers are less common than you’d think! We love to see couples like Rae + Roger embrace the iconic golds and greens of the helianthus.
