A Summer Solstice Celebration For This Couple’s 10th Anniversary

A decade ago we shared this Yosemite love fest wedding. Ash + Jake’s Big Day was a sunny summer solstice celebration full of beautiful natural scenery, meaningful moments, and astrologically inspired decor.

And today we get to share their tenth anniversary! 

Ash + Jake have a family now and are the minds behind Love & Wolves Co., a full service wedding collective with a curated team of photographers, videographers, florists, officiants, makeup artists, event designers, coordinators—you name it! So the details of this beautiful day (photos, flowers, event design, etc.) were well tended to by the Love & Wolves Co. crew.

On this year’s summer solstice, the couple and a group of their nearest + dearest made the trip up Mount Tamalpais for a day of thoughtful anniversary ritual and then into the forest at Old Mill Park in Mill Valley, California for a dreamy outdoor dinner party.

“WOW, how much deeper our knowledge of commitment is a decade later,” say Ash + Jake. “There are so many reasons why we want to share our story but a big reason is to remind couples how important it is to hold ceremony and celebrate throughout the years. Love is always worth celebrating!”

Marking The Decade

“This specific gathering was so special for us,” says the couple. “We held a ceremony to cross over into this next decade up on the sacred mountain of Mount Tam, followed by the sweetest dinner party surrounded by our closest friends and the ancient redwoods.”

“Everything we do revolves around ritual,” Ash + Jake say, “so we landed in that throughout the day.”

We LOVE that both Ash + Jake were rocking these fabulous flower crowns.

“We didn’t renew our vows,” the couple says, “but rather had a ceremony to witness our love and its growth.”

Our Favorite Memory
One of our favorite memories was including our kids in this ceremony, absolutely breathtaking to land as a completed family together in this space.

Our other fave part was dancing amongst the trees and blowing out our family birthday cake.

Our Advice
These celebrations don't have to cost an arm and a leg. You just need to find stunning locations that are low cost or even free and find the right team to help you make it special!

Dinner Under the Redwoods

Ash, Jake, and all their guests enjoyed a glorious feast in the forest by Olive Catering.

Snag some green taper candles and peachy raw edge cotton napkins to recreate the bright pops of color in this citrus-tone tablescape.

“We kept a lot of little memento’s from our wedding day which we brought back and sprinkled throughout our welcome table mixed in with albums and photos from our beautiful story of life so far,” Ash + Jake say.

“We took dried herbs from our original wedding and turned them into bath soaks for our guests. We continued with our same theme of astrology from our wedding day.”

“We also originally gave cd’s (wut!) to our guests at our wedding so we shared it as a playlist for everyone to drive up the mountain too.”

The kiddos in attendance had lots of fun crafts + activities so they could celebrate the solstice. ☀️
