Retro Meets Modern in This Earthy Portland, Oregon Wedding

Once upon a time, a visionary team of vendors came together in Portland, Oregon to create something brand new, or, as they would beautifully put it: “a bold reimagining of a wedding celebration—where mid-century modern meets 70s flair in the most seamless and stylish way.” And we are so glad they did.

Under the umbrella of Portland’s “The Venue Crawl” event, planners + event designers from House of Lilly Events transformed The Evergreen with a mix of balanced fresh design vibes + retro aesthetics for this gorgeous wedding editorial captured by Howie Photography.

We are so charmed by the way these design minds collaborated to dream up a shoot that blended rich wooden tones, retro geometric patterns, and lush greenery to “craft an atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.”

A wedding with dreamy floral embroidery and a towering 8-ft chocolate wedding cake that showcases a “flawlessly cohesive design that marries vintage aesthetics with contemporary elegance”? What’s not to love?!

Let’s take a look!

Songbird Floristry used beautiful blooms to bring out the shoot’s carefully chosen pops of sage green and warm gold.

First things first: we are completely obsessed with the charming embroidered florals of this bridal look’s custom scarf!! So perfectly paired with this corset bodice square neck Alena Leena wedding gown from a&bé bridal shop.

Check out our fave floral wedding dresses if you’re into the idea of adding some botanical flair to your own bridal look.

A Lush + Industrial Ceremony

How lovely is this comfy, earthy guest seating from Lily & Cane? Love the way it used chic, retro-contemp lounge vibes to transform the industrial venue space.

Who doesn’t love an elegant ponytail look with some wavy face framing pieces? The Wilde Flower nailed it with this bridal updo.

The Fresh-Yet-Retro Reception

CHECK please! We can’t get enough of this sage green checkered reception seating chart and its mid-century modern starbursts.

These dramatically tall + mossy tree-like floral centerpieces stopped us in our tracks! They remind us so much of the ones from this elegant baby’s breath wedding in Brooklyn.

Script On This took care of the day’s darling sage green paper goods + calligraphy. Including these checkered menus detailing a delicious meal from Field Day.

NW Mobile DJ Service was there to keep the tunes flowing throughout the editorial + immersive venue experience.

Oh, btw, that glorious floral bride scarf? That was the work of In September.

Behold! The towering 8ft chocolate wedding cake from Little Banana Bakery! A delicious focal point for the festivities.

Metallic gold geometric lines from BBJ La Tavola added so much swanky, retro flair.

Also, how great is this groom look?! So clever to pair this classic black tux from Michael Allen’s Clothier with a funky, western bolo tie.

Yummy wedding cocktails came courtesy of Sip and Social.

“This wedding embodies creativity, bold design, and the kind of inspiring details that push the boundaries of traditional weddings,” says photographer Taylor. “It’s a celebration that tells a story.”

We loved every single moment of this mid-century modern wedding design dream come true. Congrats to the entire creative team!
