Good morning + happy February 14th to all you lovelies out there! Valentine’s Day is always an exciting time for us at GWS—there are so many things to celebrate: unique weddings, awe-inspiring engagements, and fresh creativity for the new year. Well…this year, we have one more thing to add to the list of reasons to revel, and it comes in the form of our latest collaboration: the GWS Zadie Shoe! Yep, that’s right!! We teamed up with Rachel Simpson for the first ever GWS shoe! How cool is that?! We think it’s pretty on brand, too…I mean, shoes is in our name! :)
We are absolutely over the moon with how these gold beauties turned out. Since I was little, I’ve dreamt of being part of a design team when it comes to creating the perfect shoe…I can recall sketching designs when I was just 8 years old, and now it’s come to fruition! Curious about how it all came together? We’re letting you in on a little bit of the process throughout this post!

The Design Process
Last spring when I was in Barcelona (for the annual Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week—truly inspiring + so many incredible designers), I met Rachel and Katie of Rachel Simpson. I’ve been following their work for quite a while now + majorly crushing on their signature styles for years…so, I’m sure you can guess how excited I was to chat with them in person. Such an incredible opportunity!
As we got to talking…and sharing our love of fashion, it only seemed natural that we should design a shoe together! After going back and forth a few rounds and collaborating on ideas + inspiration, our Zadie shoe was born!
What inspired us for the design?
Well, we channeled some of our most-loved Pins, our readers’ love of metallic shoes, my love of florals—et voilà, the darling handmade leather flower took center stage. These shoes are crafted in Spain + made of high-quality soft metallic gold leather—so they’re built to last.
The front of the shoe is made up of three deliciously oversized flowers, each one skillfully crafted by hand and gently molded to give it a 3D appearance. They flow slightly over the edges of the simple straight leather strap, so it almost looks like the shoe is made of flowers! An intricately detailed back part gives the look of a sandal but with all the security and comfort of a full-backed shoe. It is secured around the ankle with a small oval buckle.
And, because they’re such a timeless style, you can keep wearing them for years to come. :)
