Our Favorite Trends from Barcelona Bridal Week 2018

Last week, one of the biggest + brightest events in bridal fashion took place… and we were there for it! Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is the Mecca for bridal designers — wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns, groom’s fashion — you name it, it’s seen on the runway + all the decorated booths. The event is filled with seriously long days + long nights of shows, meetings with the designers, and tons of inspiration. If you’re just tuning in now, we’ve got all the details and more of the inside scoop here.

Twenty-seven designers (and serious innovators) showcased their latest creations on the runway, while the crowd oohed + awhed. We saw so many stunning gowns — most of which will be available later this year — and noticed a number of trends: bridal capes, floral appliqués, two-piece wedding dresses, jumpsuits, and more!

Let’s take a peek at some of our faves and get a glimpse at all the trends for the upcoming year!

Bridal Capes

Bridal capes have been a constant for the past few years. First appearing on our radar in 2015, they’ve consistently amazed us each year since! Adding an ever-enchanting vibe + a dramatic flare — capes are a definite “wow factor.”

Floral Appliqués

Along the neckline, all-over the gown, decorating the back… wherever floral appliqués are placed, we LOVE them! Not only do they create a crazy cool texture that pops, but they really make you feel like royalty.

Sleeve Details

This year, we saw a ton of intricate designs on the sleeves themselves. Whether the sleeves were 3/4 lengths, or just lightly gracing the shoulders — it was all about frills, ruffles, and tons of gorgeous lace!

Long Lace Sleeves

Ooh la LOVE! We saw a number of (loosely) Victorian-inspired gowns — namely the long sleeves, dramatic lace, and high necklines. How gorgeous would these be for an autumn or winter wedding?!

Two-Piece Wedding Dress

Midriff, anyone? We’ve seen a number of GWS brides sporting two-piece gowns, and let me tell you — we’re here for it! So stylish, so cute, and they come in some many styles. What are you thoughts on this trend?

Bridal Jumpsuits

VA-va-VOOM. Bridal jumpsuits are definitely becoming a thing. But how about an all-lace bridal jumpsuit?

Sparkles

Many designers chose to pump up the GLAM factor with a major dose of sparkle. Whether the pieces were beaded, embroidered, or the materially was actually shimmering… you can’t really go wrong with sparkles. Right?

Now, this one doesn’t fit into a category, and we didn’t see any others like it… but we had to include it! I mean, angel wings?! So cool, Jordi Dalmau!

WOAH, WOAH, WOAH. Alright, so we want to hear — which trends do you think are here to stay and which ones are you not feeling?

Mucho gracias to the BBFW team for inviting Green Wedding Shoes to Barcelona, for the fourth year in a row! We can’t wait to see what creativity is in store for next year! Oh, and if you want to see some of the gowns in action, head over to our Instagram Story highlights and search BBFW.
