Gold. There’s something about it that emotes a sense of history and timelessness. It has made a comeback recently, so I love this styled shoot which shares ideas on how you could incorporate this trend into your day!
Inspired by the Bohemian’s version of “bling”, Jessica (of lovebird style) and Brooke (of Brooke Boling Photography) wanted to explore ways to gently incorporate gold into a wedding palette, while keeping it simple and fresh. I love the look they landed on – gold in the forefront while still being fun + light-hearted. Playing off the inspiration of two traveling gypsies, they added some interesting focal points like a gold bike, staircase, musical instruments and a table set with simple DIY flower arrangements. And the gold sparkly wedding dress by Rachel Gilbert…amaze-ness!
They made a lot of things for the shoot that would be easy to replicate for your own day such as the hand painted “love” canvas (seen at the end of the shoot) and wine bottles that they spray painted gold used as vases. They also painted a bucket for the favor donations as well as some reclaimed barn wood that they used to create a gold-dusted table. To keep things local, they served golden cream brûlée from a neighborhood restaurant, found props at a nearby vintage store and set everything in a great local venue.
Thanks so much to all these creative artists for sharing their talents with us today! Anyone planning on incorporating gold into their wedding day?

jen, thank you so much for featuring our work! there were so many talented people that contributed to making this shoot happen. i am honored to be on green wedding shoes and to work with such an amazing team!
WOW! It’s all SO BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing it, Jen!
What an amazing shoot! I love the dress!! The groom. The gold. Gorg!!
Love this shoot! Does anyone know what types of flowers those are? I can’t seem to track the name down.
claribelle, the flowers are proteas.
LOVE that dress! I’ve been obsessed with gold lately.
Where is that ring from? It’s gorgeous!
We are using gold. I was so hesitant at first, but the girl helping me with our wedding (www.sweetsundayevents.com) has some amazing vision. We are painting our vases gold like the ones painted in the photo. One of the three bridesmaid dresses will have some gold in it, along with other accent pieces. 67 more days, I am so excited for it all to come together for some amazing vintage classiness!
Thanks for all the amazing comments. @Marilynn the band and the diamond ring are both vintage.
Wow!! That dress is stunning. Gold is definitely growing on me. I’m having nothing so bling, but my Maggie Soterro gown is actually overlaid with soft gold lace, so it’s creeping it’s way into the theme
Love that vintage lace dress in the shoot. Do you happen to know who makes it? Thanks!
Claribelle, the proteas here are specifically Susara, which is the lighter, larger one, and Pink Prince, which is the smaller, pinker one. They are accented with white Ginestra, which has a short season but a lovely scent! there is also a little bit of beargrass in there as well. Proteas are the next succulents!
@janielle the lace dress is the fabulous spanish designer Yolan Cris http://yolancris.es/index.php?lang=es
Love this post! We are having a very gold tinged wedding. We were inspired by the wedding dress I fell in love with. I saw it on bloomingdale’s site and I love it! It’s by a designer named Sue Wong that specializes on vintage looking evening gowns. http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/sue-wong-metallic-silk-jacquard-beaded-gown?ID=511344&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results
Thanks for all the great ideas! What flower is that on the table setting (Across the plate above the napkin)?
Also— any ideas for replicating the bottles that have the gold glitter on the bottom half?
L-O-V-E the gown!
And when I scrolled down to see all of the various gold elements and styling with gold…swoon! Amazing!! Truly a perfect inspirational post. Thanks, GWS

Such a fabulous shoot – I love the groom’s attire! The casual scarf with the waistcoat, it’s gorgeous (although I would want my groom clean shaven :-)) Where’s it from? x

Very pretty! Loving the gold.
this is great! love the golden touch in the photos!!!
does anyone know what pattern the dishes are in the place setting photo? I’ve been searching for artsy and unique gold dishes for weeks now and these are perfect. PLEASE help!
It is always tough when you incorporate gold into an event especially when it comes to incorporating it into a wedding. I’m surprised as to how much I love this photo-shoot since I am most definitely a silver fan. The thing that bugs me the most about gold is that it can look cheap and tacky when it is used too much. This shoot is a perfect example of adding that gold touch yet keeping the soft and classy side of the wedding. I really appreciated the fact that most of these items were found in the local area. That is great news for DIY brides that want to take this idea and put their own twist on it.
Amazing job Jessica and Brooke, the design and the photography are amazing. It is a very big compliment when you can turn a “silver lover” into a “gold appreciator”

I am on the hunt for that Rachel Gilbert dress and cannot find it anywhere! Any ideas? I’m trying to chase it down for our Oct. 2013 wedding in Prague.
I came across this blog in the search for a gold wedding dress. I love the Rachel GIlbert Aria!! It’s from a collection a few years ago and I can’t find any available online. Any tips on how to get a hold of the dress? :)
