Hillary and Madi’s relationship is rooted in passion, vibrancy, and the bravery to break the mold. When the two decided to get married, they instantly knew they wanted it to be different. Toss out that rule book, because it doesn’t apply here! Sure, lots of couples are getting rid of the garter toss these days. But not as many couples are foregoing a cake, having a full wedding weekend, and being walked down the aisle by a mother in red!
‘Cause We Can Events helped the happy couple bring their eclectic vision in the Smoky Mountains to life. Yup, those Smoky Mountains! Under Canvas proved to be the perfect venue to wow guests (and themselves). Oftentimes, nature is a venue that just can’t be beat! Photographer Kinsey Wilder beautifully captured the vibrant energy and atmosphere of the weekend from beginning to end. Can’t wait to see the rest? Let’s get into it!
The Weekend Begins
Nothing establishes a wedding vibe quite like a color scheme! The invitations were perfectly speckled with greenery and touches of nature that let guests know they were in for the forest retreat of a lifetime.
Something blue, anyone?
Look at that itinerary! Food trucks, cocktails, and chic attire? We’re sold!
A Moment to Celebrate
It’s all pride over here! Madi and Hillary provided their guests with a plethora of rainbow flags to ring in their union.
Processional: Mix of Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour and Oh What a World
Recessional: Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
First Dance: Beyond by Leon Bridges
All we can say about these brides is wow. The two looked unbelievably beautiful and so happy to be with one another at the altar.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
This celebration calls for (two) types of bubbles!
Fun Fact: These two actually had a legal ceremony back in November of 2020! As you can imagine, 2020 wasn’t the most ideal time to have a wedding. So, the two waited a year and had the celebration of their dreams on their first wedded anniversary.
Did you catch this on the invites? Pups were (clearly) welcome to join in on the wedding fun!
The Beauty of Nature
Okay, okay…let’s talk about these amazing dresses! Lucky for us, we have two to dissect. Madi wore a stunning long-sleeved gown by Martina Liana. French lace helped create negative space detailing, leading to a modern, yet timeless look. Speaking of timeless, Madi and Hillary successfully managed to hide their beautiful dresses from one another for two years!
Hillary wore the “Sequoia” gown by Rue de Seine. A dress for true romantics! This chic gown had a slight boho look, making it the perfect contrast to Madi’s ultra-feminine dress.
The ceremony and exchanging vows! Hillary and Madi exchanged vows they had written themselves. Vows they had waiting so long to say. Because they had to postpone the wedding weekend to November of 2021 from their original October 2020 date, Hillary and Madi had a “quick and dirty” legally binding ceremony in November of 2020 where no personal vows were exchanged, just wedding bands.
Fast forward to November 2021, Hillary and Madi finally exchanged those vows they had written themselves. Vows brimming with honesty, hope, and love. Because Hillary and Madi had already exchanged rings (exactly one year prior), they opted to symbolize their union this time around through a handfasting ritual. The love was palpable and at golden hour….chefs kiss!
It’s all rainbows around here! Even the bridesmaids got in on the fun with their expertly color-coordinated dresses.
We would be remiss not to also point out Hillary’s unique ring!
A Tented Treat
Who doesn’t love a tented reception?! They’re always chic, often weather-proof, and present the perfect opportunity to get creative with the decor.
The rainbow theme was kept throughout the entire wedding! Colorful glassware and delightful rainbows within the menus made guests feel bright and happy.
It can get a lil’ cold in the mountains! Whenever possible, provide your guests with cold-weather protection, like blankets and hand warmers.
And in lieu of a cake? Sweet treats, like these petit fours!
Do you! When making decisions, don’t be afraid to leave out the opinions of others, be
they solicited or unsolicited. It’s not selfish, it’s authentic.
Let love surround you – Hillary and Madi made it a point to incorporate those they hold most dear.
Congratulations to Hillary and Madi on your amazing wedding! Happy Pride Month, everyone!
