You all caught Part 1 of the bridesmaid shoot we styled for Joanna August, right? Like we told you guys in that post, when we started our collaboration with Joanna, we realized there were SO many insanely beautiful dresses in her collection that it was never even a question that we’d create more than just one look. While Part 1 was all about romance, with pastel dresses and tons of bohemian details + touches, we love that these next two looks are a bit more dramatic – perfect for brides wanting a little more of a glam or modern vibe for their day.
Brandon Kidd captured our next look in the cozy bridal suite at The Loft on Pine. We love the glam feel of the Lacey Dress – a brand new gown from the 2015 collection in one of Joanna’s pretty new shades called Scarlet Begonia. You can’t go wrong with a classic black dress, but we love how the Stephanie Dress is totally modern with a fitted style and cool back cut-out. Above on the right, the super pretty Sarah Dress, also in Scarlet Begonia, features beautiful semi-sheer sleeves and back detailing. The Sarah is also a new style from Joanna’s 2015 collection. Don’t these dresses create such a pretty bridal party look when paired all together?
Everyone knows you can’t have glam without the right accessories! We were so glad that BaubleBar (seen in this first glam vignette) + Gorjana (seen in the later modern blues vignette) offered to send the girls some amazing statement jewels and that BHLDN agreed to lend us a few pairs of pretty, sparkly shoes. These details really brought Joanna’s gowns to life in a whole new way + the glam-factor was seriously through the roof!
We have to call out the bright blooms peeking from the vintage frames in the shot above and the magical jasmine vine adornment to the ladder below. The Little Branch is to thank for those lovely details!
Seriously, guys, that necklace…right?!
Our last look featured some of the prettiest Joanna dresses yet! In a palette of moody blues, Erika, Rileigh and Leah looked like a couple of real-life (and beautiful, might we add) bridesmaids. Symmetry Beauty went with a bolder lip + more gorgeous braids (and fishtails) for this set-up and a mini denim settee from Found Vintage Rentals was the perfect prop in the dramatic space.
The Sammy Convertible Dress on the left, shown in Tangled up in Blue, has sewn-in skirt panels that convert into straps that can be tied in over 15 amazing ways! Erika is wearing one of our faves, the Elena Dress, new to the 2015 Joanna collection. This dress (seen here in Mystic Blue) has so much beautiful, natural movement to it. On the right, the DC Dress shows us that sometimes simple is best. The DC is one of Joanna’s original wrap styles + the color, Blue Moon, was seriously so pretty in person. And who doesn’t love the classic-ness (and comfort) of a halter dress?!
You can find all of the dresses seen in this shoot on the Joanna August website! We love how many palettes + styles she has to choose from. GWS would like to thank our super talented team below who helped us put together this editorial for you! We hope you find inspiration not only from Joanna’s dreamy dresses themselves, but in how many amazing, different ways there are to style them. We know you’ll find a silhouette + shade that reflects your own personal style and perfectly complements your wedding day aesthetic!
