Mariel and Nick’s wedding was one for the books! The couple married at Snake River Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. As stunning as their wedding was, it didn’t come without a few hardships along the way. In 2020, the bride tragically lost her father to COVID and their original wedding date was rescheduled. Even so, the couple persevered to become stronger than ever and entered their marriage with a new lease on life. Their wedding day was only the beginning of a beautiful life together!
The team behind Simply Grand Events helped the happy couple achieve their goal of a fun and engaging wedding, with traces of their travels sprinkled throughout. Photographer Nicole Aston beautifully photographed every detail of the event, including all of the stunning flower arrangements by Someday Soon Floral. Oh – and did we mention the wedding had a few celebrity guests? Let’s dive into this divine wedding!
Finding Jackson Hole
Like all worthy treasure hunts, it starts with a map! The quest for love between Mariel and Nick began in the Teton mountains, where the couple spent countless hours hiking, skiing, and adventuring with their families.
We knew immediately Jackson Hole was where we had to get married. We wanted all of the details to feel like they were brought from our home to a giant outdoor party in the wild nature of Wyoming.
Mariel and her gals started their day with glasses of white wine and the cutest outfits to get ready in!
The bride was a classic beauty in her vintage gown purchased from Happy Isles. Her bridesmaids wore the sweetest floral dresses!
Nick and his groomsmen stunned in their expertly-coordinated suits. The light gray tones perfectly complimented Nick’s deep green attire.
Here’s an often overlooked detail: parasols! These stylish umbrellas are not only adorable, but incredibly practical for sunny summer days.
Down the Aisle
Let’s talk FLOWERS! These stunning florals lining the aisle were cheery and reminiscent of a walk amongst wildflowers – the couple’s exact goal!
It sounds silly, but we started with an image of a fawn in the woods and just built outwards from there. Delicate, wild, simple. All things that came to mind!

We love seeing couples so happy!
And it’s sealed with a kiss! Mariel and Nick are married!
Mariel’s wedding attire had numerous special touches. Between her vintage wedding gown, custom Oscar de la Renta cape (yes, really!), and bespoke veil, each element was curated to perfection.
The search for my veil was the most important part. It felt like the best way to have an heirloom piece, full of magical little details that meant so much to me. Working with the women at Hermione DePaula was such a fantastic experience. They really made my vision of incorporating mountains, initials, and meaningful notes come to life. Blushers always felt so romantic (shout out to the princess in the movie Ever After), and a way to have another “first look.” I loved it.
Two People in Love
Nick, a professional comedian, and Mariel, a VP of television development, are largely driven by their creative instincts. Their talents have taken them far in life, and their wedding was a reflection of just that.
Before guests made their way into the reception space, they were given the option to pick up a refreshing cocktail…in an airstream!
The reception may look simple at first glance, but trust us when we say it was extremely well-curated! Just one example of this was that the tent was decorated with beautiful Aspen trees from Jackson Hole!
Nope – there’s no misprint here! The bride’s custom denim jacket displayed their wedding crest along with the originally planned date of their nuptials. For the groom, it was their executed wedding date instead!
Favors and decor were heavily influenced by the couple’s travels. Each compass included a guest’s name, along with a much-loved travel destination of the couple.
Can we let you in on a little secret? As Mariel and Nick were cutting the cake with her grandfather’s naval sword, the cake toppled over! With her expert reflexes, Mariel was able to save the day (and the cake)!

We told you it was a star-studded event! Husband and wife comedy duo Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall got the party started with their slick dance moves.
At the end of the reception, everyone headed to our afterparty and we stood in our now-empty beautiful tent, eating the hot dogs we provided for the ride home, taking a deep breath and admiring all of the details we spent so much time on. It was a gorgeous moment to reflect on our journey. Think about the wedding you would want to attend and what would make it the most fun and special
