Creating a Colorful Wonderland: A Spectacular + Surrealist Tent Wedding

Prepare to be totally transported by “the transformative power of colours.” 

This unique wedding editorial was “the dream child of famed London celebrity florists Early Hours who wanted to play with all the rainbow!” says Alexandra of The Bijou Studio, who styled and coordinated the shoot in conjunction with Unique Rebels Union. “Alongside a creative team of industry pros it was a chance to experiment and redefine traditional wedding design.”

Based on her experience with this vibrant project, Alexandra offers some wisdom to anyone thinking of going vivid with their event design’s color world: “If you’re looking to make an impact with your wedding or party design, picking out a bold colour against a white backdrop is undeniably show-stopping.”

Pelirocco created the editorial’s colorful + contemporary paper goods. LOVE the use of non-traditional shapes!

Georgia Emmy Hair and Alev Miller gave the day’s bridal hair + makeup its editorial edge. Very into the damp + wavy hair look and all of that moody, shimmery glam.

Early Hours didn’t just create the day’s colorful florals; they were also the minds behind the entire editorial’s event design. A color-blocked approach was an overarching theme, so this varied bridal bouquet may be the only floral arrangement that featured more than one color!

Inside the Tent

“I really wanted to showcase how to bring ceiling decor together with dining table arrangements in an organic but surrealist fashion.” says Lizzie from Early Hours. “Usually these elements are designed quite separately, but as you can see they can be seamlessly blended to create a fantastical aesthetic from the very top of an event space down across tables and floors. I wanted the installations to appear to be dripping down in a fluid nature and give a different twist on the typical party balloon and flower expectation.”

“We used spectacular colour clouds hanging from the ceiling that appeared to burst and rain down within and against a stark white canvas,” remembers Alexandra of The Bijou Studio. “It was a chance to bring the make-believe of AI into reality: the impossible is possible.”

All of the day’s beautiful bridal looks came from Morgan-Davies Bridal and Halo + Wren.

So into the structured bodice, strapless neckline, and high slit of this timelessly elegant wedding dress.

The tent’s table settings were broken up into uniform color worlds that corresponded to the drippy, drapey hanging installations above them. There was a sunny yellow…

…as well as a playful hot pink…

… and a vibrant + citrusy orange! And it didn’t stop there. Blues and greens were featured as well.

We are absolutely astounded by how fluidly Early Hours blended bright florals with balloons from Bubblegum Balloons to create these maximalist, sculptural clouds.

Wren Ark outfitted the tables with a mix of modern, minimalist white + gold decor details and brighter elements that tied into each section’s color.

“If your event is in a blank canvas space, using a bold installation such as this allows everything else to be minimal to stunning effect,” says Lizzie of Early Hours. “This concept also works particularly well when you need to change a room around from dining to partying. The look is versatile for any moment and the effect is no less stunning from day to night.”

Absolutely enchanted by the subtle, sheer shimmer of this intricately beaded + unique wedding dresses.

Love the vertical experience of this round table’s beautiful blues. “Hanging mixed material clouds draw the eye up whilst matching paper goods, tableware accents, candles nestled in white rock pools and cakes take the colour blocking story across the event space,” remarks Alexandra of The Bijou Studio.
