A Colorful + Intimate Wildflower-Inspired Wedding in an Irish Garden

Intimate Ireland Garden Wedding

Shelby is a writer and photographer and Cormac is an illustrator and graphic designer. They really are a match made in creative Heaven! It’s all in the details for these two. Shelby owns her own photography business, Lille Vandreren & Co, so along with creative Cormac, they nailed the design for their wildflower- inspired wedding! They married in the dreamy gardens of Burtown House where the lush green of Ireland became the backdrop, while bright boho wildflowers took center stage. Shelby said it best in her vows to Cormac- I pray that we will be like the wildflowers- that we will grow where we’re planted and that our faith with spread like daisies in bloom, as bright as poppies. You can’t get more meaningful than that!

Shelby shared their inspiration behind the day:

Everything we did, every decision we made, from getting married in Ireland to the flowers that Cormac wore on his chest, was done and chosen with intention. We knew that doing this was the only way to set the tone for what we wanted our wedding day to look like. We knew it wouldn’t have been the same if it was any bigger or elaborate, so for us it was important that we did every single thing for a reason.

Take a stroll through the garden with us and look through the lens of First Loved Photo! Here we go!

An Irish Fairytale

Intimate Ireland Garden Wedding

The loveliest setting we ever did see! Here’s what Shelby had to say about finding their dream venue:

We chose Ireland because my family had never been and it was important that both families spent time together before we got married. We chose Burtown House & Gardens because we wanted to be where the wildflowers were and Burtown House is where we found them.

Rue de Seine

Boho dress dreams!! Shelby’s Rue de Seine dress featured embroidered flowers, delicate tassels and dramatic flowing sleeves. Here’s what Shelby said about finding her dream gown:

My mom, sister and I went to Unbridaled in Houston and we each grabbed a couple of dresses that we thought suited me. There were 7 in total and come to find out they were all made by the same designer, Rue de Seine. I tried on all 7 and the last was the one I fell in love with. It was easy because I didn’t overwhelm myself with options or second-guess myself. At the end of the day, I know myself best, so I knew that when I put on a dress that killed me to have to take off I didn’t need to look any further.

You Belong Among the Wildflowers

Wildflower Bouquet

Every flower that S + C chose for their big day was meaningful. Shelby’s bridal bouquet featured a colorful and boho selection of wildflowers such as scabiosa, poppies, astilbe, feverfew, delphinium and Queen Anne’s lace.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

During our ceremony, our officiant (Cormac's mentor, Paul) closed us out with a prayer that is prayed over the congregation of our home church at the end of every service. The prayer signifies togetherness and God's provision, and it's always prayed while everyone wraps their arms around the people to either side of them. The prayer just feels like family and like home. There was a moment during Paul's prayer where he paused for a few moments (in our wedding video you can see my head drop) but at that moment was when we felt like, "wow, we're family now. We get to be family forever and our families get to be family." It was really, really special.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Do everything with intention or don't do it at all. This doesn't mean make things elaborate or even keep things simple, but whatever you do — from tablescapes to seating arrangements, to who you send an invitation to, to how you wear your hair, do it because you love it, you'll remember it and it will make your day what YOU want it to be.
