The Bride Wore a Vintage 90’s Wedding Gown for This Fun + Colorful Oregon Wedding

Gita + Alex’s budding workplace romance at Apple blossomed into a lifelong love story, so when they planned their Oregon garden wedding, they didn’t hold back at all and went full-bloom-mode when it came to color.

“We wanted our wedding to feel like a whimsical-dreamland-summer camp, with colorful personal touches and quirky details,” the couple remembers of the playful aesthetic they crafted with the help of event designers and planners from The Indigo Bride. “We tried to weave in elements that felt unique to us without overthinking too much and just following what felt fun.”

House on Metolius in beautiful Camp Sherman, OR — a little ways southeast of Portland — became a vibrant, subtly 90’s coded dreamland. Orange, pink, sky blue, and green reigned. A curvy aisle and winding serpentine reception tables added whimsy to the setup. Gita stunned in a vintage 90’s drop waist gown. And David Ann Weddings caught every moment of the sunny, color-saturated celebration from behind the camera.

Alisha of The Indigo Bride remembers how seamlessly the small things came together to realize Gita + Alex’s fun-forward, one-of-a-kind vision: “Every detail felt like a true expression of their creative and playful spirit.”

Loving these CAROLYNEMU mules from Manolo Blahnik! Very here for a wedding shoe-as-something-blue moment.

“Alex knew that he wanted a Thom Browne suit,” the couple shares about the groom’s style journey. “After trying on a few options at their store in San Francisco he opted for a Tuxedo for the wedding day.”

“Gita wanted a vintage wedding dress and found the perfect dress at Happy Isles in LA, which was a 1990s drop waist Reem Acra gown.”

The Ceremony: Love in Bloom

These magically sprouting single-stem florals along the aisle! The lush little garden of color blocked arrangements at the end! Roots Wild Floral created a ceremony of blooms that felt curated-yet-fantastical.

Our Favorite Memory

So many memorable moments! But the top memory has to be the ceremony and moments right after getting to embrace all of our friends and family.
Another recurring moment was getting to see groups of our friends from different walks of life enjoying the river together in the moments in between events and thinking how lucky we are to have all these people gathered in such a beautiful place.

We cannot get enough of this couple’s tech giant meet cute. “Gita + Alex, both based in San Francisco, share not only a home but a workplace—Apple—where they first met eight years ago and continue to work today,” Alisha of The Indigo Bride shares.

“We first met at work (in a meeting!),” say the bride + groom, “but we were properly introduced outside of work by our mutual friend Evan and started dating after Evan brought Alex to Gita’s Birthday party in 2018.”

What could be better than saying “I do” with your besties by your side in these stunningly bold bridesmaid dresses!

Gita’s soft curl wedding hairstyle was the work of Sarah Ruth Hair, and her natural glowy wedding makeup was by Amelia Leoine Beauty.

The Reception: Vibrant Whimsy

“We couldn’t resist weaving this sweet piece of their story into the wedding design,” Alisha remembers of the design’s homages to the bride + groom meeting at Apple.

“The reception seating chart was a nostalgic nod to their tech roots, featuring hidden Apple products from over the years (yes, even the iconic iPod Shuffle!).”

“A statue donning vintage corded Apple headphones added the perfect quirky touch.”

Still not over Gita’s once-in-a-lifetime vintage find — her Reem Acra wedding dress. Alisha said it best when she reflected that “its ‘90s vibe perfectly complemented the colorful, funky design of the tent and surrounding décor.”

Arden Event Collective outfitted the celebration with this gorgeous tent as well as with all of its eye-popping tabletop decor and chic arched + curving furniture.

Bespoken Creative was behind the day’s sunny, playful notch-edge paper goods as well as the full invitation suite and all of the wedding signage — including the day’s custom acrylic drink tags, the amazing seating chart, and the welcome sign.

The reception’s bold patterned pink + orange tablecloths and sunny marigold napkins came courtesy of BBJ La Tavola.

We ADORE a serpentine reception table setup. You better believe this layout has a spot in our roundup of creative wedding reception table ideas.

How cute + funky are these personalized acrylic drink tags!

Our Advice

Have fun! and follow what calls to you and lean into unique and personal elements.
Divide and conquer with your partner, have each person take on tasks that play to their strengths. And you can't make every element of the weekend a top priority, so align on rough above the line / below the line priorities to help keep your focus and budget in line!

Congrats, Gita + Alex! Your color-rich Oregon wedding was a unique + whimsical dream! We wish you a life together as playful + vibrant as your Big Day! All the best from GWS!
