Talk about a winter wonderland! Dennis and Vanessa were married in the prettiest winter destination of them all, the Austrian Alps. It was snowy, cozy, and every bit as romantic as the couple could hope for. The wedding took place at Chaletdorf Auszeit, a private chalet village that inspires sanctity, peace, and a whole lot of love.
To help make the stress of planning a bit easier, the couple hired the planners and event designers behind Join Wedding. And for photographing their special day, photographer Vivid Symphony was the perfect fit! Finally, to bring their snowy paradise fully together, Wuchs created the perfect complementary floral arrangements. Now let’s get into this amazing winter wedding!
Snowy Mountain Caps
When it comes to planning a wedding, it helps to really commit to your theme! After Dennis and Vanessa decided that January 17th would be their wedding day, a winter wonderland was destined to be. Now that they had a theme, it was time to pick out their invitations. Seasonal colors like icy blue were perfect for helping guests feel fully immersed in the alpine experience.
Another standout seasonal color of the wedding day was this rich and vibrant shade of red. If you like how these wedding shoes look, just wait until you see the dress!
Dennis proposed to his (now wife!) Vanessa while on a spectacular trip to South Africa. Given their adventurous and nature-loving personalities, the Salzburg mountains were simply meant to be the wedding destination of this charming couple.
The cozy ski village was a picturesque destination. Couldn’t you imagine having a cup of hot cocoa while cheering on the love of this couple?!
Vanessa’s bouquet was adorably cheery and bright. The pops of blue and pinkish red offered a fun contrast to the bride and groom’s attire.
Let’s have a moment for the dress! This beautiful red gown was easily one of the highlights of the day.
I always knew that I wanted to have a non-white dress, and when we decided to have the ceremony in the snow, my initial thought was confirmed (a white dress against the white snow didn’t seem like the best idea). However, finding a colored wedding dress turned out to be an impossible task for me because the choices can be extremely limited. That is why I decided to have mine custom-made! For my first session with the designer, I was joined by my mom and best friend and we were able to decide on the color as well as a rough cut of the design. The dress came to life over the next few months, and the results were amazing.
Love On the Lake
The wedding ceremony took place alongside a majestic frozen lake!
The bride and her father were bundled up in winter gear as they made their way down the aisle to meet Dennis.
At the altar, Vanessa and Dennis couldn’t help but crack jokes and have a laugh while exchanging vows!
Saying our own wedding vows was a really special moment for us.
Husband and Wife, at Last
During the ceremony, a live singer performed a special song for Vanessa and Daniel. A dream come true!
Warm tea and berries were served for guests to save them from the winter cold.
In addition to the wedding ceremony, guests were invited to a weekend of fun! There were snow hiking tours, wine tastings, skiing, and tobogganing galore.
The wedding reception was heavily inspired by traditional Austrian vibes. As frequent travelers to the region, Dennis and Vanessa imagined a cozy and warm wooden cabin energy.
Let’s close this out with Dennis and Vanessa’s very best advice from their experience planning their dream wedding:
1) Get a wedding planner! That way, neither you nor your best friends have to stress on your big day.
2) Find the right balance between your own wishes and expectations, and those of your family.
3) Don’t stress! Even if something doesn’t turn out as you expected, no one will remember…the only thing you will remember is the stress and anxiety you had.
4) Relax and take everything in.
5) Write your own vows; there is nothing more special.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
