I absolutely love when a couple takes the time to have anniversary photos taken. Such a romantic gesture and amazing keepsake to reminder this special time in your relationship together. Suzanne + Jeff celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary last month. Big congrats to them on 12 years! :) I love that they decided to capture this moment in time – and you can tell from these photos that they are still ridiculously in love! Suzanne is a graphic designer and owner of She Paperie + Design boutique and her husband is an adored high school teacher. They are a very creative couple and with Suzanne’s love for special details and handmade touches, along with their great sense of style, these photos came out pretty amazing. Thanks so much to Jeanna Hayes Studios for the gorgeous photos!
“BETTER TOGETHER” was the overall vision for Suzanne + Jeff’s shoot. They had details that were “HIS,” details that were “HERS,” and blended, they were all simply “BETTER TOGETHER.” I hope this shoot serves as inspiration for both current couples planning their weddings, as well as those of you lovely couples who have already had your wedding day but still swoon over pretty details + couples in love. :)
The vintage buttons are from Suzanne’s late Grandmother’s collection – 12 buttons for 12 years.
With linen being the classic 12th anniversary gift, Suzanne made a handmade flag banner out of linen fabric and linen paper – a flag for each year they’ve been married!
“Love notes + lunches” was an important detail to their shoot. This is a special exchange they’ve made each day for the past 12 years: she makes him a bag lunch and in return he writes her a love note. Isn’t this just the sweetest thing ever! I also love that they ate PB & J’s – the ultimate “BETTER TOGETHER” sandwich. :)
“HIS” and “HERS” place settings. “HIS” was inspired by the white chocolate pears they gave as the favor at their wedding, “HERS” was inspired by her love for all things soft and feminine. They also incorporated their everyday silverware and china from their personal collection.
Love that Suzanne had “I DID” on the bottom of her shoe and wore something old/new/borrowed + blue and Jeff wore a bow tie just like he did on their wedding day.
Fun food details they included…
• cakelets for “HIS” (dark chocolate) and “HERS” (vanilla) and the “OURS” wedding cakes were a blend of both flavors
• a dozen doughnuts for a dozen years together
• a homemade lavender lemonade toast (their favorite beverage)
How cute are their vintage spoons!? They each had a member of their family’s name adorning them – the ultimate “BETTER TOGETHER” detail, as their twin babies are now the best chapter of their love story! And if you love these spoons, we shared a DIY to make them here.
Big congrats again to Suzanne + Jeff and thanks so much for letting us share your photos today! I also wanted to note that Jeanna Hayes launched a new division of her photography company called Your Day in a New Way. She specializes in offering styled photo sessions that honor a couples’ wedding day, their love story, and includes sentimental details from both their wedding day and years together. Such a fan of this idea as I love seeing photos of couple’s documenting their love.

Ohh this is really amazing!!! I totally agree that a life of love never ends with marriage and the traditional “and they lived happily ever after”. We need celebrations like this, about the beautiful life together. I love all details and the photos, and they seem so in love, probably more than the day they got married. I hope I can take good pictures from my Parents 28 years marriage :)
Love this, so inspirational!
Thank you for this feature! And I love MissLilly’s comments, because that is the whole reason behind all of this: to honor the love couples have after they’ve been married! I love wedding days, but there’s an extra something special about the love a couple shares as they continue to make memories together.
Thank you again!
WOW! Amazing talent, Jeanna and Suzanne. Thanks for these splendid photos, which are just oozing with charm and class.
I really appreciate this blog. I think I got a little teary eyed.
I loved the little food details such as the PB&J sandwiches that meant something to the couple. Plus they looked scrumptious.
Thank you Jen for featuring our session that meant so much to us. It’s an honor to have had it debut on your beautiful blog! :)
Wow! So inspiring! I love the details and the story behind this shoot. Lovely shots. Thanks for sharing :)
This whole thing is so clever and sweet. I just scrolled through the photo set quickly (SO beautifully shot). But my lord! The details. The DIY’s. Stuff that I — who am SO burned out on weddings — am inspired by. And the “Love notes & lunches” caption/explanation made my cry. Thank you for this :) And well done to the photographers, “models”, and team.

What a beautiful montage. I’ve never seen an anniversary photo shoot…this should be more popular. What a great celebration of love and commitment!
Love the desaturated limited pallete ( almost monochromatic) low contrast look. art direction is a great plus here.
I love how authentic this looks! Beautifully shot- and I’m so jealous of that red hair! http://www.lightupshoe.sale/
