A Sweeping Periwinkle Gown Steals the Show in this Desert Elopement

Oasis Wedding Inspiration

When a gown is practically a work of art, you treat it as such! This dreamy editorial is like springs in the desert: refreshing, invigorating, and completely welcome. And that DRESS! A standout color + design to offset its rigid + dry surroundings. Mary Jessica Photography filled us in on the concept behind the shoot:

Inspired by the muted color palette of the Nevada Desert, this windswept editorial came to life. Each element of the editorial was a breath of relief, or hydration to the muted desert tones. Specifically, the periwinkle gown was a dramatic contrast to the weather worn landscape of the desert, thus inspiring the concept of “Oasis” for this shoot. I adored the sense of space we felt out on the Lake Beds: isolated but peaceful. The weather worn hills and cracked earth were the most stunning backdrop for our couple and ceremony set up.  The moody skies threatened overhead, but the ground remained untouched. I really couldn’t have asked for more dramatic photos!

Designed by Janna Brown Design and organized by Charla Story, the drama of the day came to life in beautiful serendipity! Let’s have a look:

The bride wore these darling Bella Belle shoes, featuring floral lace applique and fastened by a delicate ankle strap.

The Ceremony Setup

Janna Brown Design designed a unique overgrown ceremony piece, infusing texture and elements of nature into each and every detail!

Are you obsessed yet?! Carol Hannah Bridal’s ‘Myrina’ gown rightly steals the show, from the color to that dramatic movement! We’re also fans of the Ianassa gown from this boho hight tide editorial!

The Reception Table

Each element of the shoot, from the tablescape + modern chairs to the ceremony arch, was a like new life in the desert, adding a touch of luxury into the simple beauty of the earth.

We absolutely love Mary Jessica Photography‘s passion + perspective of the day:

This entire shoot came together for some of the most striking photographs I’ve taken! I love our story about “oasis” because, not only was the concept of the shoot themed around hydration and the desert, but the day and resulting photos are a relief from the typical styled shoots I photograph. Each image stands out for not only the unique story, but the elements of design that are so different from a classic wedding. I hope that this editorial inspires brides to get a little out of their comfort zone and think about what story they want to tell with their wedding day, and what they want their guests to feel. That, coupled with intentional thought to colors and location, will result in a truly one of a kind wedding.
