“Our inspiration was simple: to create a celebration that felt like us, intimate, whimsical, romantic, and reflecting the magic of Mallorca.”
Mallorca, the island in the Balearic Sea just off the coast of Spain, is a wonderland of limestone mountains and centuries-old Spanish villages surrounded by brilliantly blue ocean. It makes total sense why newlyweds Kayla + Spencer were inspired by the island itself as they dreamed up their wedding day there.
Planning a destination wedding is no small undertaking, but the pay-off of turning your “I do’s” into an unforgettable international adventure for your entire guest list? Totally worth it. So Kayla + Spencer found a place where their friends + fam could come together for five whole days. “We chose a historic “finca” on an olive oil farm for its views of the mountains and sea,” the couple shares, “letting the natural beauty set the tone for the day.”
A “finca” is a traditional Spanish countryside estate, and Finca Son Salas, the spot in the Mallorcan city of Soller where the couple tied the knot, is a particularly gorgeous one. Stunning scenery, historic Spanish architecture, and a true sense of being set away from the world: you’ll see it all in these beautiful photos from Shannon Yen.
To create the day’s organically romantic aesthetic, Kayla + Spencer collaborated with event designers + florists of Savia Bruta. “We fell in love with the island’s natural textures, which shaped much of our design,” Kayla + Spencer share of how the celebration’s color world took shape. “We hoped for soft pastels that blended with the finca’s stone and countryside setting, citrus tones pulled from the orchards, and florals that felt natural and whimsical.”
An idyllic olive grove. Beautiful blush + ivory flowers. A canopy of twinkling string lights. There was a swanky vintage Porsche, too, and a pool jump to end the night.
“It was the perfect mix of intentional details and pure, in-the-moment fun,” the couple says, “exactly how we wanted to start this next chapter.”

“Our bespoke invitations by Malen Co. carried that same rustic charm of Soller with illustrations of the town,” say Kayla + Spencer.

One of our favorite details from the day was Kayla’s amazing bridal hat from Olive and Pique and its attached veil!
Also, We spy a pair of Kanika Pearl Heels from Dolce Vita! Love those pearl straps — such a classic-meets-contemporary pair of wedding shoes.

The Ceremony

Just look at those ancient olive trees! Oh, and these lush, blush aisle arrangements are just one of the many examples of Savia Bruta’s floral magic.

Bride Kayla’s no stranger to the wedding world. As a wedding photographer, she’s seen so many different examples of bridal style. “Being in the wedding industry, you’re constantly surrounded by ideas and inspiration, and sometimes that can make it harder to tune in to what actually feels like you,” Kayla says of her journey to her own wedding day look. “I knew I wanted to wear my signature Olive and Pique hat, so whatever dress I chose needed to pair with that, match the vibe of our finca in Spain, feel bridal, timeless, and myself.”

“I had a few non-negotiables: I knew I wanted sleeves, something with unique lace or tulle, and something that felt both romantic and effortless.”

“I found it in Portland,” says Kayla of her yes-to-the-dress moment with this Truvelle wedding gown from a&bé, which she paired with the Ivy Jacket from SAINT BRIDAL Couture. “It still had these amazing whimsical sleeves from SAINT Bridal Couture but was a simpler Truvelle A-line silhouette.”

“It felt so perfect for the ceremony too, since I really wanted the focus to be on the setting, the florals, and the environment we were in.”

“For Spencer, it was honestly love at first sight,” Kayla says of her groom’s style journey. “The moment he found his Ralph Lauren Purple Label tux, he knew that was it. It felt like him and he didn’t feel the need to try on anything else. The whole process was simple, which felt so fitting for him haha! I was there when he tried it and figured we’d have a long shopping day but once he tried it on, I totally knew it was the one. I loved it so much and knew it was exactly the timeless piece he was looking for.”

Kayla’s besties wore a pastel collage of bridesmaid dresses from For Love & Lemons and Show Me Your Mumu.

The Reception

RF Cia De Bares was on hand mixing delicious wedding cocktails and mocktails for Kayla + Spencer’s guests.

“We really wanted a big moment to gather everyone around a long table to share, laugh, and connect,” the couple says.

Otro Cantar provided the communal, banquet setup of Kayla + Spencer’s dreams, and linens from Exclusive Rent 4 Events and decor from Jaiak set the tone and table for the celebration.

And Luxe Lighting seriously brought the glowy romance with this SEA of string lights.

“A family style way of dining is very much who we are,” the bride + groom say, “so having Private Chef Mallorca incorporate both local produce from the finca like fruit and olive oils, and ingredients from Mallorca itself, like seawater sourdough bread made the meal feel like an extension of our intention behind the day.”

“Being able to pass plates, and talk with everyone for hours under the canopy string lights was one of the most magical parts of the day.”

Our Favorite Memory
One of the most special moments of the day was something totally unexpected for our guests. Right before we exchanged rings, our officiant surprised everyone by announcing a ring warming ceremony. We turned to face our guests as our rings passed around, and each person held them while offering a wish or thought about our love. It was emotional, raw, and so sweet, not rehearsed or scripted in any way. I know we were both holding back tears the whole time. It truly felt like the most meaningful way to enter into marriage, surrounded by all that intention and energy and love.
A second favorite was our guest gift. We wanted to give everyone something special from Spain that they’d actually take home and use. We had our calligraphy artist there in person, painting live watercolor portraits of all our guests. Each one was personalized with the outfits they wore that day, and it felt like the sweetest little keepsake from the wedding. Seeing them pop up on our friends' fridge now is so fun!

Our Advice
1. One of the best pieces of advice we can share is to trust your gut throughout the planning process. Not every tradition has to make an appearance, and not every detail has to unfold exactly as scripted. Don’t be afraid to let go of elements that don’t feel true to you as a couple, those intentional choices are the ones you’ll look back on with gratitude.
2. The right vendor can elevate your entire experience, but a vendor who doesn’t align with your values or understand the heart of the day can add unnecessary stress. If you feel a disconnect during planning, trust that instinct instead of waiting until the wedding day and dealing with the aftermath. When you choose a team who shares your vision and energy, everything feels lighter, more joyful, and infinitely more meaningful. As both a bride and a photographer, I’ve seen firsthand how the magic comes when you allow vendors to create with intention rather than sticking to rigid shot lists or Pinterest boards. Inspiration boards are amazing but the real magic happens when vendors are fully present and focused on telling the honest story of your day, rather than chasing an Instagram-perfect post. The best images and the most meaningful memories happen when your team is creating from a place of genuine intention.
3. Let go of the idea of perfection. It’s so easy to get caught up in timelines and little details, but the truth is something will always shift. The schedule runs late, the weather changes, a plan doesn’t happen the way you thought but if you’ve built your day around the things you truly love, those little imperfections don’t matter as much. What you’ll carry with you isn’t whether everything went exactly according to plan, but the joy, the laughter, the meals shared, and the people who showed up for you. If you can lean into that, breathe, and just be in the moment, you’ll look back and realize you lived it fully.

Absolutely delighted by this deliciously nostalgic heart-shaped vintage wedding cake by Sofia’s Cake Studio The pearls! The bows!!

“While so much of our inspiration was about togetherness, we also made space for just us,” Kayla + Spencer remember. “Instead of a traditional cake cutting, we shared that moment privately by the pool, feet in the water, taking a breath together and soaking in the magic.”

A final word of wisdom from the couple: “If there’s one thing we’d add, it’s that the magic of our wedding wasn’t just in the big moments, but in the little ones. Eating ensaïmadas by the pool with our friends, laughing together in the kitchen while eating our wedding cake for break the next day, or ending the night by jumping in the pool together and then talking on the balcony like we would back home. Those simple moments were perfect. Even though the day itself didn’t unfold exactly as planned, when we reflected on it, we realized that wasn’t what mattered. What mattered was the feeling, being present, celebrating, and finding joy in the in-between moments.“

Congratulations, Kayla + Spencer, on your absolutely magical destination celebration in Mallorca! GWS wishes you all the best!
