Have you ever heard of White Sands National Monument in New Mexico? As you might have guessed, it’s a brilliant landscape of well, white sands! Known for its dramatic views of white gypsum sand dunes, when you first come across it, it can feel very, very surreal. It was here that Sophie + Jorge wanted to say their vows, and at sunrise, no less. So, the two of them drove down from Fort Worth, Texas to meet with their photographer, Jazmine Rubio, and their officiant.
Sophie tells us: We are inspired by old school outlaws (but tasteful outlaws, of course). I’m from Fort Worth, Texas and he’s from Zacatecas, Mexico…so it was a Tex-Mex wedding. We picked a date and place with one month to plan the whole thing…and we just did it.
Because when you’ve found your person, that’s all that matters. Let’s take a look at all the magic:
The Florals
We are LOVING those florals hats! Want to create something similar? We’ve put together this DIY so you can make just the thing!
Sophie’s little sister made her bouquet—which made that extra special for Sophie since her sister wasn’t present for the elopement. How sweet is that?
Cuties!!
The Ceremony
Just as soon at Jazmine drove off, we went to start the car...and it wouldn’t start, totally dead. It took about an hour, but a park ranger came to our rescue and gave us a jump.
After that, we drove straight to Ojo Caliente—a beautiful stucco spa one hour out of Santa Fe. We had massages and soaked in the hot springs beneath the falling snow.
Just them, a cozy blanket, their officiant, and their photographer. Does this sound like absolute bliss to you?
What a GORGEOUS look for the desert location! Curious about Sophie’s fringe and lace wedding dress? It’s by Tadashi Shoji.
The Newlyweds
Do what you want!!! Go where you want to go, and don’t stress...and maybe give yourself a little more than a month to plan it... ;)
What an absolutely stunning collection of blossoms to add a fun pop in the otherwise stark white environment, don’t you think?
So gorgeous, you two!! Isn’t White Sands such a magical place?
