A destination wedding under the Golden Gate Bridge (or right near it) was what Taylor + Kevin had in mind. The ceremony took place in Cavallo Point’s intimate chapel, but T+K wanted to add a modern twist: tons of candlelight, industrial style arches to frame the altar, and wild cascading florals. A moody winter palette was crafted to bring in a sultry feeling — dusty rose, emerald green, gold, grey, cream, and serious doses of navy blue + black.
Even in the cold November weather, the room felt warm with all the candlelight, asymmetrical florals, and sumptuous velvet linens. To finish off the night, Taylor’s best friend surprised them with a Michael Jackson impersonator — who REALLY got the party started.
Let’s head up to Sausalito for this moody wedding in the photos by Branch & Cole, shall we?
The Wedding Party
Aren’t the navy hues for the bridesmaids gorgeous?! We especially love how they offset the burgundy and pops of orange.
Here are a few of our faves, in case you want to create a similar look:
Kevin picked out thoughtful enamel pins for all the groomsmen.
Hello, cool cats!
The Ceremony Space
Taylor spills: Honestly, I was floored seeing the florals as I walked up to the chapel and it just kept getting better with each part of the day.
Processional: Alpenglow by S. Carey
Recessional: You’re All I Need to Get By
First Dance: Call it Dreaming by Iron & Wine
Taylor tells us: Since Cavallo Point has such beautiful historic structures, we want to mix that old-school nostalgic feeling with modern and personal touches. We wanted our wedding to be us, and also be an absolute blast for all our guests. The best part was having all our closest family and friends staying on the property together all weekend (it was basically like adult summer camp). We decided on a mini-destination wedding that was just up the coast, so it could feel like a weekend away, but still be accessible.
Other than of course marrying each other and partying with our favorite people, our best friends had a Michael Jackson impersonator show up at the reception to dance. It was totally unexpected and so fun. We’ll never forget it.
The planner, Ashley of Bash Please shares: We brought elements from the outdoors into the reception to soften the space. As the bride’s parents are from the South, the florist, Charlotte and Daughters, decorated the chandeliers and other pieces with cotton.
The Moody Reception
Isn’t this floral + hexagon escort card backdrop magnificent?! We think it’d pair particularly well with our Noir GWS x Neck and Tie floral tie!
It was important to us to add in personalized details, from our music choices and writing our own vows, to fun phrase napkins and a custom “All My Days” flag by Wild Standard.
The Newlyweds
Diggin’ her cozy sweater + his polka dot tie!
Planning a wedding is crazy. Remember to not stress the stuff that really doesn’t matter. None of your guests will notice what “goes wrong” and ultimately it’s about the two of you making a commitment and how you want to share that with the ones you love. The important thing is to have the day represent you and completely soak up that time, it really does go by so fast.
Moody magic… and a gorgeous scenery to go with it! Congratulations, Taylor + Kevin!!
