The twinkling of city lights, mingling with the idyllic vibe of waterfront harbor might be one of our fave juxtapositions of all time. And for New Yorkers like Sara + Steffen, who split their time between the city and a sleepy beach town, the unsurpassed setting provided by The River Cafe in Brooklyn was just so right. We love timeless, modern feel of their celebration + their fashion picks are totally winning us over. Just wait ’til you get a close up on Sara’s Alexander Wang shoes + Stone Fox Bride dress. A few words from Sara, Steffen and I split our time living in Brooklyn, NY and the eastern tip of Long Island, NY – a little beach town called Montauk. We knew we wanted to incorporate the juxtaposition of a rustic, natural vibe alongside a sophisticated, classic “city” feel. Our location and venue of course provided the city element. Our hand-written ceremony, attire, flowers and small details incorporated the more natural elements – succulents, sand and rocks hand picked from our favorite beach in Montauk. Our Favorite Memory
The CEREMONY! Our best friend, Louise Storey, from the time that we lived in London together married us in a Humanist Ceremony. Louise and the two of us collaborated to write the entire ceremony, which incorporated a moving letter from Steffen's late father, answers to secret love questions that were unveiled on our wedding day and personally written vows. Louise put a voice to our hearts, values, told our story and what matters the most to the both of us in life.
What a dream…
Break down the planning into manageable monthly to-dos, no need to overwhelm yourself and lose sight of the most important outcome of all of the work - your marriage and love for your partner. Be decisive - do not over think the little things, go with your gut.
