Just from a quick glance at that opening image by Gregory Ross, we know we’re in for a treat with this one! But, this gorgeous sunset Malibu e-session has even more to it than meets the eye. Lauren, the lovely bride-to-be, was given a fun opportunity to try out bareSkin, the groundbreaking new liquid foundation from bareMinerals! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the bareMinerals brand, the best thing to know about their philosophy is their focus on good-for-you formulas that enhance – rather than cover up – your natural beauty. bareSkin is available in 20 skin-loving shades, so finding your perfect match is a piece of cake. And since bareMinerals is known for their flawless, no-makeup look and feel, you’re guaranteed to look like yourself (but the very best version of!) on your wedding day. And that’s what pretty much every bride wants, right?!
The way this session started out is kind of our dream. All the bareMinerals makeup you can imagine, crazy-pretty florals by Dandelion & Grey, and a floaty BHLDN dress thrown in for good measure. It’s almost easy to forget there’s another part to this shoot — tons of dreamy sunset shots of Lauren + Patrick in a beautiful, open Malibu field!
Such pretty makeup, right!? We love the ultra-natural feel.
You just can’t beat that idyllic California sunlight!
So much pretty! Let’s hear a little bit of backstory from this super-cute duo:
We met through Patrick’s matchmaker sister, Alexis! She mentioned I had to meet her brother while he was home from Seattle for Christmas because we’d probably hit it off. I have never been on a blind date, so I was a little nervous, but more weirded out about meeting someone for the first time and getting to know them in a very close vicinity of other people. (To this day we eaves drop and enjoy people-watching when we can tell it’s a first date!). I showed up a little late, but he stood up right away and introduced himself in front of the bar seats he saved for us. What a tall refreshing glass of water with BEAUTIFUL blue eyes We faced our chairs towards each other while we talked the night away and he showed me how good of a listener he is and how much of a gentleman he is as well. We were so interested in each others’ careers, hobbies, and family life that we didn’t want the night to end. We told each other we would stay in touch and he flew back to California take me out for my birthday. At the end of the night, he pulled up to my house to drop me off, turned off the car, held my hand and told me how much he liked me and that he would love to see where this could go. Right then and there (for the first time in my life) I told a boy that I flat out really liked him too, with NO hesitation. We were long distance for 9 months until he moved home to Orange County. Thank goodness! Now every year we go back to Paul Martins on the day we met and reminisce as we love to do! And after a romantic Christmas Eve proposal, we’ve begun planning our dream wedding, which will take place on my parent’s farm next Spring!
Big congrats, you two! And for all of you other newly engaged gals, be sure to remember bareMinerals for your engagement photos + wedding day! Whether you ask your make-up artist to use it, or DIY your own because it’s just so easy, bareMinerals the perfect way to naturally look your absolute best!
