Whimsical Safari-Inspired Wedding: Alyssa + Roy

safari wedding

So, this might be a fun GWS first! Alyssa + Roy’s inspiration for their wedding day actually came from their honeymoon! And while that might sound a bit backwards, they had decided they wanted to go on an African Safari long before they decided on anything wedding related. So incorporating details that reflected their secret love of Animal Planet shows, their separate stints of time living in Africa, and their excitement about their incredible upcoming trip seemed like the only way to go. From the golden leopards + elephants scattered throughout, to the punchy florals by Sweet Marie Design, to the (seriously) best ever phoobooth backdrop, we’re loving how A + R’s day is full of whimsy, personality, and most of all fun!

From the bride, We wanted to incorporate fun things about us into our wedding day. For example, the nerds deep down inside of us love doing puzzles together, so our favors for all of our wedding guests were zebra puzzles. Our favorite song is “Till Kingdom Come” by Coldplay, so we had little signs everywhere that said “For you I’d wait till kingdom come.” And, finally, the bridesmaids each had a King Protea flower, which is native to South Africa (where we went on our honeymoon).

Thanks so much to Heather of Amorology Weddings for the super fun styling + to Tracy Hill for the gorge images. And, of course, big congrats to Alyssa + Roy on a beautiful day!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

We both agree that the most memorable moment of the day was our exit from the reception. Seeing all of our friends and family lined up as we ran under the sparklers was unbelievably magical.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Start collecting addresses for those you are going to send invites to as soon as you can. I didn't take into account how long this would take us, and I wish I had started on this earlier. Also, don't stress about the small things. Just enjoy every minute of your wedding day!
