Today I have a gorgeous southern wedding to share with you guys – and by southern, I mean Atlanta, Georgia! I am totally head over heels over Heidi’s gorgeous Claire Pettibone gown and her bridesmaids look so pretty in their dresses + fun shoes! Such a fun filled day with their family + friends. Thanks so much to Heidi with Our Labor of Love for letting me feature her photos today and to Ashley Baber for sending this wedding my way! Congrats Heidi + Todd!
We were inspired mostly by wanting everything to reflect our style and personality. We are southerner’s at heart, but we have both spent a considerable amount of time living in the SF bay area. We wanted the day with decor, food, etc to reflect both our traditional past as well as our more modern, hip future. Chartreuse and verdigris blue are two of my favorite colors. The chartreuse green feather fasicinator, from Anthropologie that the bridesmaids were wearing, inspired much of my color selections. Since green and blue aren’t great for everything, especially flowers, I went with a plum to warm things up and because Todd liked the idea of purple ties for the guys. Todd and I are both very extroverted, social people, and we wanted the day to be as relaxed and fun as possible. After all, it is a celebration!
Heidi, your dress is AMAZING!! You look so gorgeous.
Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Seeing Todd for the first time outside the Georgian Terrace was definately the most memorable. We were so incredibly excited to get married and couldn’t wait to begin the beautiful day together. I was very happy that we choose to make the ceremony more relaxing by seeing each other before the rest of the guests were around. This also enabled us to hang out with each other and our incredible wedding party most of the day. When else will you ever have all of your closest friends in one place? Why not make the most of it!
What a gorgeous bridal party! Adore the Anthropologie dresses, shoes, necklaces and feathers in their hair! Pretty bouquets by Amy Osaba.
What song did you walk down the aisle to? Went the traditional route and walked down to Canon in D, played by on a guitar and viola by Todd’s two very good friends. This was following the wedding party’s processional to “Down to the River to Pray” a song that was played many of late nights when Todd and some of his friends were in Chapel Hill together.
All table decor was created by the hard work of my Mother and Aunt. We collected vintage bottles and jars from antique stores, yard sales, etc as well as used ivory table coverings that were my great-grandmothers. Besides the bouquets, flowers were purchased from local flower shops the week of the wedding and styled the morning of by my mother, aunt and a few family friends.
Any advice for those planning now? Trust your ideas and instincts. Everyone has an opinion and there is no way you will be able to please everyone. Taking criticism and advice lightly and respectfully will keep you from losing perspective on whats really important. Can’t imagine doing it without the help of our day of planner!!!
The entire day was truly the most wonderful day of my life thus far. I had heard this from other people before, but wasn’t sure if I believed it. We had sooo much fun and everything was absolutely perfect from my perspective!
