Real Wedding: Heather + Jonathan’s Vintage Garden Wedding

Leo Patrone is the amazing photographer behind this wedding. I love his photographs. There is just something special about shooting with film, which he does – along with some of my other favorite photographers, Jose Villa and Elizabeth Messina. I saw this wedding on his blog earlier this week and he put me in touch with Heather who was gracious enough to share a bunch of details behind her beautiful wedding.

Heather and Jonathan held their ceremony and reception in the courtyard of the The Stillwell House and Garden in Tucson, AZ. All the design and planning was done my Heather. From Heather, I wanted a vintage, garden feel (with some whimsical bird references) that still did justice to my Arizona roots. My favorite memory of the day was having my sweet grandfather give me away. It was such an emotional moment to have him escort me down the aisle.

Heather’s gorgeous dress is by Alvina Valenta and her fab shoes are by Nina. Heather’s stunning hair piece and all the bouts are by one of my favs, Myra of Twigs and Honey.

And one of my FAVORITE things was the gelato cart provided by Frost Gelato Shoppe. I agree! Love that idea and what a cute photo!

Invitations were painstakingly designed myself :) All materials were purchased at Paper Source. Vintage stamps were purchased on Ebay. Calligraphy was by Jennifer Cota. Beautiful job Heather! Love the vintage stamps.

Bridesmaids dresses are by J Crew and their hair pieces – and the flower girl hair piece – were created by another fav of mine, Chelsea of Oh My Deer Handmades. The florals for the day were done by Floral Art by Rachel.

Ring Bearer pillow by Etsy seller Heart Felted. Cake was an almond/chocolate layer with fresh raspberry filling by Ambrosia of Tucson. Bird cake topper was created by Etsy seller PinCushionPrincess. The bird cages included in the centerpieces were all purchased at Target and spray painted gold by my husband. The mason jars and tins were thrifted by myself. Music for ceremony and cocktail hour was by The Camus Quartet. Our recessional was to Coldplay’s Viva la Vida played on the strings. So pretty!

Any advice to brides planning their wedding now?
My advice to other brides is to utilize as many friends and family as possible, in an effort to keep costs down. My grandmother is a talented seamstress and did all of our alterations, including my gown. My father-in law is a pastor and officiated. It also helped to immerse myself in the inspiration that all of the amazing wedding blogs out there provide. Without those blogs, I would not have found the wonderful Etsy sellers that I got to work with. It was also through wedding blogs that I fell in love with film photography, and I knew that was absolutely the only way I wanted my day captured. I cannot say enough good things about Leo Patrone.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful day with us Heather! Congrats to you and Jonathan and thanks again to Leo for letting me feature your beautiful photographs. You can view more of Leo’s work on his blog.
