Painter’s Palette Wedding at Terrain: Megan + Michael

colorful flower wall

Megan + Michael were married at City Hall on a Tuesday afternoon with only the two of them in attendance in front of the judge, but it was also important to them to share the event and their happiness with their families and friends. Terrain at Styer’s was the perfect location for their wedding party and they made use of the entire space – cocktails on the outdoor patio, dinner in the cafe and greenhouse, dancing in the barn, and dessert in the hot house and around the fire pit outside. A bit about the wedding from Megan:

Our theme was a painter’s palette and our colors were the whole spectrum: ROYGBIV. Our planner, flower designer, the chef, photographers, and cake designers were all really enthusiastic about making our ideas into reality and that made the whole planning process enjoyable and exciting. We made our invitations, escort cards, and guest sign-in book at home, carving linoleum stamps and hand-painting everything. That was definitely one of the best parts of the whole wedding – the time we spent together in our living room making things for the event. It was a really special feeling to be working together on details of the day, and a lot of fun. Overall, the attention to and personalization of every little detail was what made it such a special party – when the guests were arriving, it really felt as if we were welcoming them into our own little world: a bright and colorful and happy place, full of love.

Congrats to Megan + Michael and thanks so much to Love Me Do Photography for the photos!

How amazing is that floral wall above by Sullivan Owen Floral & Event Design?!!

From Sullivan about the decor: “Megan, Michael and I clicked from our first meeting at terrain, they loved lots of color and wanted something that they hadn’t seen before – my favorite challenge. As the preferred floral designer for terrain, I work there often and the funnel wall has always been something that I’ve wanted to get my hands on. I just needed the right couple! The color blocked terrariums were all made with locally grown plants and constructed in glass vessels sold at terrain. Michael is an artist and worked with me on the gradient and color choices for the floral wall. My team and I made 72 large hand tied bouquets of assorted seasonal flowers and foliage to get the right combination of colors. Guests were able to select their favorite color flowers and take one of the bouquets home in a vase at the end of the evening.

The food was amazing, from the raw bar (Michael loves oysters) to the S’mores (I love toasting marshmallows), and Michael’s mom brought over 100 homemade whoopie pies! During the cocktail hour, Michael’s musician friends, Jesse and Eric, played unique and beautiful duets on harp and classical guitar, and then after dinner we danced to DJ-spun Motown.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our favorite moment overall was when our dog, Mulligan, joined us on the dance floor in the barn. Our pack was together and surrounded by the most important people in our lives!
