New Zealand DIY Woodland Wedding: Carisse + Mark

new zealand wedding

Happy Monday, lovelies! As you know, we love a good woodland wedding around here, and Carisse + Mark’s magical, DIY New Zealand wedding, captured by  A Couple Of Night Owls, is just about as good as it gets! Chock-full of handmade and heartfelt touches throughout – and a playful palette of mint, burnt orange + peach! – I love how you can really see their adorable personalities represented in the design. Such pretty eye candy and guaranteed inspiration for those of you planning a day with a little rustic, woodland flair!

From the bride, We wanted something a little bit different – we both love the outdoors and I am obsessed with animals. I also love hand-making things and wanted the day to reflect us and not something bought from a store. A woodlands theme seemed to fit perfectly. It transpired later that we’d also find our perfect reception venue, Woodlands Historic Homestead and Gardens which, as its name suggests, is simply magical and was the most amazing venue. So much thought, planning and hard work went into it by our family and friends which truly made it one of the best days ever.

The amazing stationery suite, illustrated by Carisse, really set the tone for the whole event. Carisse’s sister, Lindsey de Beer, handled the design + execution to help bring the artwork to life. It turned out SO great!

Each family member was given a little forest animal boutonniere, handmade from wood by Outside Everywhere, to wear on the day! Such a cute touch + the perfect way to incorporate your love of animals into your celebration.

I’m not sure I could love Carisse’s dress more! It was skillfully handmade by the New Zealand based dressmaking company, I Sew 4 U.

We decorated the tables with old glass bottles that held proteas, chrysanthemums and sweetpeas in green, white and peach. There were many critters everywhere – we had ceramic owls in mint, white and burnt orange – and little woodland animals covered in glitter!
