Laid-back Chicago Rooftop Wedding: Caroline + Michael

Intimate Chicago Wedding

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again, we LOVE how GWS couples are the masters at making their day perfectly reflective of them + their love. Not at all an exception, today’s adorable duo, Caroline + Michael, were married on the rooftop of Little Goat Diner in Chicago among 40 of their closest family and friends. Since they are laid-back lovers at heart, planning a day that was low-stress and filled with sweet moments was their top priority. Caroline says, It’s easy to lose sight of what’s important, especially when you’re planning a wedding. I’ve asked many newlywed couples what their favorite part of the wedding was, and too often I’ve heard the same response, something along the lines of we couldn’t wait for it to be over. I would say that this was the inspiration for our wedding; we wanted to make sure that we wouldn’t feel this way as our day approached. When we thought about what was truly important to us, we realized that all we could ever hope for was an intimate moment to share with close family and friends (oh, and great food).

We adore the super sweet captures below by photographer, Anna Zajac. And besides capturing love stories, Anna loves to travel and will be visiting the following places in 2016: January 6th – 11th – Reykjavík, Iceland // January 13th – February 3rd – Waikato, New Zealand // February 4th – February 17th – Barcelona, Spain. Anna will be generously offering 20% off any wedding package or portrait session for couples that book with her in any of those specific locations. The offer only applies to the specific locations listed above.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Even though we had been together for eight years prior to the wedding, we both experienced some wedding day nerves. I think we both could agree that our wedding ceremony could be described as somewhat of a blur. It was short and sweet, and it was over before we knew it. Not surprising, the most memorable moment for us on our wedding day was the time we got to spend together alone as a couple, walking around the streets of Chicago with our photographer. I have to admit: there was a pseudo-celebrity feel as we walked around in full wedding regalia that we won’t soon forget!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Don’t get caught up in the industry. Remember, your wedding day doesn’t determine your trajectory as a couple. It’s just the first of many more days together as a married couple, so make sure that you stay true to what’s important for the both of you.
