How rad would those lightbulbs hanging above be for a ceremony backdrop?!! I love that with light you can easily change a so-so room into a gorgeous room. This post is to help inspire you with lightbulbs for your wedding day!
The chandeliers below with rope + lightbulbs were seen in this beautiful wedding I featured.
Stunning. From this wedding photographed by W. Scott Chester
Love the combo of mason jars + light bulbs for above the dance floor! From Milk Glass Vintage Rentals.
Light bulbs + poms make for a pretty ceiling as seen here on the left and right by Abby Ross via here.
Outdoors + String Lights = my fave. Love the photo above by Jimena Roquero. Below from here + here.
Above photo from Sloan Photographers and dance floor photo by Craig Mitchelldyer. Below ceremony photo on the left by Clayton Austin from this wedding and on the right by Domestic Construction via Brooklyn Bride.
If you love lightbulbs and are planning to get married in New York City, I highly recommend checking out the Gramercy Park Hotel as your venue! Check out that awesome lightbulb ceiling!! Cocktail hour could take place in that room followed by dinner outside under string lights as seen in this wedding below photographed by KT Merry.
Or maybe lightbulbs are used in a totally different way! Love the lightbulbs in the birdcage, bulbs in wood + stone from Anzfer Farms and lightbulbs in a dome. There are even lots of cute DIYs out there including this heart lightbulb DIY, terrarium place cards DIY, and more terrarium light bulbs DIY.
Looking for the vintage style light bulbs? I had a reader request on where to find these the cheapest. Well, the cheapest we found was at your local Lowe’s! $8 for a bulb (the hubby and I actually bought a few of these for a cool chandelier we built for our patio!). If there aren’t any Lowe’s near you, you can find them online here and here (although both of those are around $13/bulb).
Anyone planning to incorporate lights in a new and different way? Or just strings of lights? Lights will never go out of style! :)
This is overwhelmingly awsome!
Wow, these are some rockin’ bulbs! I love all of the mismatched antique bulbs in the second set of pics!
Oh me oh my I just love this post! I adore vintage lighting and love it when grouped together in a huge art form! Thank you!
These ideas are amazing! Kicking myself in the pants for not thinking of it in time for my own wedding!!
Such a great round-up!! Love the top photo – you are right, lights really make a room!
I’m using lights of string lights in the barn for my wedding. I was inspired by this post of yours –

can’t wait!!!
Lights add such a festive touch. Every wedding should have them. Love all of these photos/ideas – especially the image by Jimena Roquero.
Love this… light up my life!
These pics are absolutely divine – I need some bulbs! :-)
I love the results on almost every picture, but this Gramercy Park Hotel – that’s a masterpiece:)
bistro lights above a long table outdoors in nature, is what I call rustic romantic. The warm glow from the lights is soooo inviting.
love this post.
love all the shimmering light!!!!
gramercy hotel is so cool!!!
yesss i love using them outside for over the reception area. so pretty.
For saftey, no one use the curly “efficient” CFL bulbs for this; one breaks and 4 whole mg of mercury goes into the air. Not safe when you’re using a bunch at all! Just use the nifty round ones like the ones featured here!
Great post! I love vintage lights and light strings. I just thought I would throw out a few more places to find them if anyone is interested.

I love love love the idea of using light like this, I love all these examples. We’re doing candles instead of an aisle runner/flower petals and candles all over the alter and the pavilion where we’re getting married is all strung with white string lights. We’re also making chandeliers using tea candles inside yarn orbs, we’re having lanterns, we’re putting lights behind the fabric backdrop at the alter… I LOVE using light!!!
Thanks for this post!! Great inspiration!!!
I LOVE the first one and I love the use of candles in mason jars hanging from old doors and window frames. Such awesome examples!! thanks again!!!
What is it about light bulbs! LOVE!
WOW!!! I wish some of my future wedding couples will pick up some of these lightning ideas!!!
I have photographed at the Grammercy Hotel in NYC before…it really is stunning what they have done with the lighting there. So amazing how a string of lights can transform an event into something so magical!!
These pictures are great. The use of lighting is so often overlooked, but I think it’s one of the most effective tools available, when it comes to creating the right atmosphere.
They are really a wonder. I like the mix of the traditional and the energy saving LED light bulbs.
these ideas are amazing!!! Me encantan…meraviglioso.
Beautiful lighting.I really love all of this ^^
We had nearly 500 ft of light string at our wedding and are willing to sell them if anyone is interested! Email me at [email protected]

Hi guys! I want to hang the bulbs on a rope just like the last photo. How can I find the electric ropes to hook the bolbs on?
I would be so grateful for an answer! Thank!
Where do you go about finding these lightbulbs?
I like in Toronto, Ontario. I am not sure where to find a place that can help me do this.
