Today’s gorgeous DIY is from Kiana. Kiana owns Tulipina, a boutique floral design studio in San Francisco, California and today she is sharing how to create that gorgeous centerpiece above! So perfect for your holiday parties, right?! Thanks to Angie Cao for the photos. And now let’s see how to make this…
What you will need:
• One 8” pedestal urn (or similar)
• Two bunches Ranunculus (in two different reddish colors)
• Two bunches Pokeweed berries
• Two bunches gourmet popcorn white garden Roses (or similar white garden Roses)
• Two bunches white Hellebore
• One or two branches full of unripe Clementines (or similar small citrus)
• One bunch Cocklebur (or similar with coarse/spiny pods for texture)
• One set of floral shears/clippers/scissors
Step One: Begin by filling your urn halfway with water. Then, add in the Pokeweed berries until the urn is well filled and the berries are hanging over the sides of the urn in a natural (asymmetric) manner.
Step Two: With your garden Roses, continue to fill the urn, keeping with a natural style.
Step Three: You will have noticed by now that the beauty of this centerpiece is found in its asymmetry, while still maintaining shape and beauty from every direction. Continue this theme with the addition of the white Hellebore.
Step Four: Add your Clementine branches so that they sit within the design without becoming lost amongst the other flowers. Small bunches in a couple of different spots will work best. Be careful when trimming the branches that they do not become too short, as the top heavy Clementines will easily fall out.
Step Five: Add in your reddish Holiday colors with the Ranunculus throughout the arrangement. I was able to find a beautiful variety with a green center, which really ties the holiday theme together.
Step Six: Finally, for texture, add in the green Cockleburr. Only a couple of branches were used within the design, and the purpose was to augment the asymmetry of the design with varying height. Any locally available spiny green pods may be substituted.
And there you go – a gorgeous holiday centerpiece for your table!
